Post subject: | BTCC Finale @ Brands Hatch 20th/21st September *Spoilers* |
After 27 action-packed rounds, the 2008 British Touring Car Championship descends on the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent for the final three rounds of the season: Yet another mixed day for SEAT at Silverstone means Jason Plato comes to Brands Hatch with only a slim hope of claiming the title. And for those of you that weren't aware, please note ITV4's start time - it's an hour earlier this weekend so that all three BTCC races can be shown live (surely that's the first time that's happened on ITV?), meaning six hours of coverage. |

*In before the moaning about how it should've been on the GP loop...* (though to be fair that'll probably be me... ) The BTCC season always seems to go so quickly....*sigh* Seems like only a few weeks ago we were at Brands the first time and now it's nearly all over |

Very true, the season has gone fast, it's lasted less than six months. I've been watching all the races over again recently, and as far as I'm concerned it's been a bloody good season. The championship battle may not have been as epic as last season, but the racing has been at least just as good, if not better. |

I'm wondering actually..... *here comes massive speculation* Giovanardi wraps up the title....this much seems obvious Then he thinks he's done it all in Britain and disappears off to WTCC/DTM or something....leading the best car in the series potentially open to an annoying but bafflingly popular recently unemployed driver to use as a battering ram in 2009.... I would post this over on the BTCC forum but the longer I'm there the more IQ points I lose |

In one of the post-race interviews a few races ago he said that if he didn't win the title he probably wouldn't return for another year. |

Cant beleive the season is finishing already Giovanardi is pretty much guaranteed the championship barring something crazy happening. I really hope he does stay for next season, the BTCC needs to keep its star names |

This is a championship I try to follow, but it's getting increasingly tough here. We used to get a highlights package within a week of the race itself being on in the late 90s, but this has well and truly faded (I guess with the slight decline in the BTCC itself over the years). We actually had a bit of coverage last weekend, at least of how the championship was going, as Giovanardi was here at Philip Island racing in the V8 enduro. Not sure how he finished as I kept falling asleep - you can see why I enjoy the European touring car format, with multiple shorter races. Not wrong about it being over quickly, it hadn't started last time I was around the forums, and now it's all but over. Hopefully Giovanardi can wrap it up, then head back to Australia and give Bathurst a real crack. |

Thanks to RU I have seen most of the past year and a half. Also generally watch the justin.tv stream but that has been poor the past couple of rounds. The pairing of Giovanardi and Hynes finished 17th, 1 lap down. Car fastest lap was a 1:35.9169, I assume Gio was behind the wheel but not sure, only 4 other cars had a slower fastest lap. The pairing of Matt Neal and Boris Said finished 19th, also 1 lap down. Car's fastest lap was a 1:35.7016, better than 6 other cars. Fastest race lap was Tander doing a 1:34.2193. |

(though to be fair that'll probably be me... ) I was wondering whether it was on the indy circuit or not as the MSV race calender does not say which..... I had a great time out on the GP circuit for the WTCC earlier this year, so roll on Indy for a change - you can see so much more of the track when spectating too. |

Shame it is over so quickly! It's a full length epic compared to the WTCC though. |

What's Martyn's options for 2009 then? I hope he doesn't drop out of the BTCC, I've been a fan of his from his days dominating the Kumho BMW's. |

If I'm not mistaking (so dont quote me on this), I think Arkas has/or is run as a subsidery to another team, with only the name Arkus, similar to how Team Air Cool is actually the same team as GR Asia that runs in the WTCC. So he could, in theory, just continue on with that team. |
