I saw the first few laps of race 2, but after that I had to help out with stuff here, so didn't see anything else of today's racing, and I missed a flip as a result!

It was a surprise considering you are one of the biggest BTCC fans in this forum!

A quick and low quality capture of John George's crash from ITV4 (only replays), the feed capture is on my other computer.

The more I watch the first angle of that crash, the more obvious it is that Turner did indeed do that deliberately. I don't believe in karma but with any luck there's payback waiting for him in the future.

I can't wait until people finally get out of the Brands Traffic jams and start uploading their vids to Youtube! :)

So is that the first BTCC race flip since Brands 2002? And the first for at BTC spec car...ever? :?

I had a feeling last night that someone might flip, but i thought it would be at Paddock and flipping in the gravel. Glad to see he was ok.

First race flip since the 4 in 2001, according to the flip list. Last actual flip was Pickford in quali 3 years ago. But yeah, it's been a while

George 'under observation' overnight

John George will stay in hospital overnight for precautionary checks following his dramatic crash in today’s final round of the 2008 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship at the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent.

George’s TH Motorsport/JAG Honda Integra rolled at high speed on the race’s opening lap after contact with Darren Turner’s SEAT Leon TDI sent his car into the barriers along Copper Straight.

Although the 47-year-old Cornishman was able to climb free from the badly damaged Honda – which came to rest on its side – a team spokesman confirmed that George will remain under observation overnight in hospital in nearby Maidstone.

And a link to some amateur snapper's pics of George's crash.

Hmmm that reminds me, Race and Rally UK will show a barrell roll through the Paddock Gravel trap in the Fiestas on Friday...;)

Latest update is that JG has a broken sternum and possible rib fractures too.

From crash.net

Quote:
John George saw his HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship season end with a bang at Brands Hatch after dramatically rolling out of the final race of the 2008 season.

The TH Motorsport with JAG man was dicing for position with Darren Turner in the 30th and final race of the campaign when the pair made contact towards the end of the short Cooper Straight.

The contact turned George sideways into the barriers on the entry to Surtees where his Honda Integra was pitched into a barrel roll, going end over end before coming to rest on its side.

George was able to climb from the car and was taken to hospital in Maidstone where he remained under observation overnight, but has escaped largely unscathed.

"John's chirpy, responding to company e-mails and certainly recovering," a team spokesman told Crash.net. "His blood pressure is a little erratic - which is normal after a serious accident - and they won't be able to release him until it's 100 per cent stable for a minimum of two hours. He has serious bruising on his chest and his difficulty breathing may mean some broken ribs, though more x-rays will be required.

"Needless to say his wife, Sue and children, Kailey and Kevin, all of whom work for JAG and were present at Brands, are very relieved that he was not more seriously hurt."

George's accident was the second big BTCC shunt on the Cooper Straight this season, with Tom Onslow-Cole having been involved in a high-speed accident during the third round of the year back in March.

Great to see him walk away, especially as Andy Neate (ex-BTCC racer) was put into a medically induced coma after his accident in Britcar on Saturday.
