For the 60th time, the 6.213km ribbon of asphalt on Mount Panorama plays host to Australia's Great Race - the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 9.

The race returns to it's traditional October slot on the calendar after 2 years of COVID schedule changes.

28 cars are entered for this year's edition - which includes 3 one-offs for the 1000:
Matt Chahda and Jaylyn Robotham will both make their Supercars debut at the 1000 in the #118 Holden. Walkinshaw has supplied the car for the Chahda family-run effort.

Originally scheduled for 2021 (and nearly derailed after Pukehoke), Erebus will run a 3rd all-Kiwi entry with backing from Boost Mobile. Tabbed to race the #51 Holden is Richie Stanaway (first 1000 since 2019) and 4-time 1000 winner Greg Murphy (last raced the 1000 in 2014).

Triple Eight Race Engineering will once again bring back their 3rd entry with Supercheap Auto backing. Super2 regular Declan Fraser and 7-time 1000 winner Craig Lowndes is tabbed to race the #888 Holden.

5 support series is on tap for this year's race - those being Dunlop Super2/Super3, Porsche Carrera Cup, V8 SuperUtes, Toyota Gazoo Racing 86's and Heritage Touring Cars.

This will be the finale for Holden as a manufacturer; and the CoTF/Gen2 platform in the 1000.

Weird to see Caltex on a car again, I thought it was all rebranded Ampol here after the Caltex branding rights expired in Aus?

I thought so too, but apparently the company that has the rights to Caltex internationally bought the Puma chain of stations and is now rebranding them as Caltex stations to make things confusing.

Alright, let's get psyched for lots of red flags and trundling around behind the safety car!

Hopefully it ends up being like 2017 where they managed to go the first 80 laps without a safety car despite fairly heavy rain for most of that time.

Could someone please explain what CBD means in relation to Australia, cos it has a completely different meaning here and I’m sure it has nothing to do with cannabis thr number of times I see it mentioned in relation to Aus.

To be fair, a major business in Bathurst's central business district is cannabis.
