The Adelaide 500 returns this weekend for the final round of the season and the last round ever for Holden in the main game before the next generation cars are introduced in 2023.

Shane van Gisbergen has already wrapped up the title a while ago but there is still something of a battle for the rest of the top 5 in points. With 300 points on offer Waters in 2nd has a 185 point margin over Mostert in 3rd, who has a 128 point margin over Davison in 4th with DePasquale being only 18 points behind him. As is tradition there'll be two 250km races, one on Saturday and one on Sunday and the weather will be hot and dry with 35 degree outside temperatures predicted for both days.

The support categories will start with Super2, which unlike the main series is having a real battle for the title with the top 5 in points all in contention for the win. Declan Fraser currently leads and will automatically clinch the title if he scores at least a 4th and a 5th in their two races. It'll also be the end of an era for that series as it'll be the last time for the Ford Falcon, Nissan Altima and VF Commodore before they get moved to Super3 next year.

Also running is GT World Challenge, which is up to 21 cars from the 13 they had at the Bathurst International, S5000, which has a 15 car field including Giancarlo Fisichella, Touring Car Masters and the Aussie Racing Cars. The first races are tommorow, with S5000/TCM/ARC all having races.

Practice once again ends with a turn 8 wall hit, this time for Randle and it's a pretty hefty, complete pancake of a side on hit....

That one won't be out for the shootout :8:

Crash on the formation lap in S5000... Seems like the field thought the race had started properly for some reason.

Fraser wins the first super2 race, which was complete with the usual chaos. I think he now only has to finish in the top 10 to wrap up the title tomorrow so it's looking pretty good for him.

Waters almost binned it on an outlap after pitting. SVG leads but he hasn't pitted yet.

Oops, Shane tried to go round the outside of Mostert and got forced down the escape road. Now he has to come from the back of the field again. Don't know why he tried to make that move, not a good place to do it.

Mostert is going to be the leader after this as he got all of his fuel done earlier.
