I really hope the paddles doesn't happen. They belong in GT cars, not touring cars / stock cars.

Probably ~15 years ago people said they belong in single-seaters but not GT cars.

:whistling:

don't disagree - altho tbf they don't belong in single seaters either but it is what it is ;)

they do make more sense tho with GT cars tho with 24 hour enduros and the current status of driver rankings & gentleman drivers being classified separately (I hate modern shit)

So...exactly what rounds are left on the calender? Are we likely to see Supercars again this year or is it all a write off? :?

There's a new calendar supposedly coming out next week.

They have to run 5 more rounds to satisfy TV contracts so there will likely be two doubleheaders before they go to Bathurst, which they are trying to make happen at any cost. Eastern Creek will likely be the second doubleheader in November.

Winton (which was scheduled to be the next round) has not been cancelled yet but it probably will be because it's reliant on spectators which the Victorian government is probably not going to allow until later in the year at least, so the first doubleheader will likely be somewhere else (maybe Tailem Bend or Queensland Raceway).

Bathurst - which will likely be the season finale in Gold Coast's old slot, possibly as a speedweek combining the 1000 & ARG race cards

Eastern Creek and Queensland might host a doubleheader to fill out the schedule

Percat's renegged on his BJR renewal and signed for WAU, with Fullwood looking at a Tickford seat.

We finally have confirmation regarding when the season will restart. It'll be the last weekend of October at Eastern Creek for a night race and there will be 3 more weekends of racing there (hopefully on different layouts) before they go to Bathurst, so they can fulfil the TV contract which requires them to run 12 rounds. There was talk that they'd do some racing at Queensland Raceway but it seems they weren't able to work out a deal to get the Vic/NSW teams into Queensland and I guess going elsewhere was too difficult.

I think the QR issue could be the track license it requires to host Supercars

The inevitable:

Quote:
Supercars has today confirmed the introduction of the Gen3 program will be delayed to the opening event of 2023.
Factors outside the control of Supercars, including the ongoing challenges with international supply chains and domestic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic are among the major contributing factors.
Lockdowns in various states which have forced Supercars to condense its racing program over the final three months of 2021, have also limited the Gen3 testing program as originally planned.
Supercars has arrived at this decision following consultation with key stakeholders including Repco, Ford, General Motors and Supercars’ broadcast partners.
The manufacturers’ respective homologation teams (Triple Eight Race Engineering and Dick Johnson Racing) continue to forge ahead with the development of the prototypes.
Gen3 cars are on track to be unveiled on Friday December 3, during this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000.
Supercars, General Motors and Ford remain committed to rolling out Gen3 and the introduction of the Camaro and the Mustang.
Throughout the course of 2022, fans will see the first-ever Gen3 race car come to life ahead of the program’s racing debut.
Cars will conduct significant on-track exhibitions and testing at many of Supercars’ events next year .
Mark Larkham will continue to bring behind-the-scenes updates of Gen3 prototypes and testing through Repco Supercars Championship broadcast and digital channels.

Premat won't be coming to Bathurst either. Zak Best will be making his 1000 debut in his place.
