I'd say this weekend's races were definitely better then last's. Was good to see Waters actually hold off SVG in the final.

Yeah it felt like an inevitable SVG win when he got by Davison so quickly, pleasantly surprised that Waters held him off. Good race

Kelly Racing will be no more after this year as the Grove family have bought the team entirely:

It looks like QR is not going to happen with the Sydney lockdown being extended until late next month. The next round is apparently going to be Winton at the start of October, with the championship returning to Phillip Island on the weekend where the MotoGP was supposed to happen. Bathurst and Sydney will happen in November before Gold Coast at its original date.

There's another major issue occurring which is the Camaro might not be sold in Australia from next year, but they'll be competing against the Mustang in Gen3.

have to guess that the semiconductor parts shortages aren't helping the cause (Kentucky Speedway is literally a holding station for the Ford truck plant that's near by)

sounds like GM might KO the Camaro after 2023 or 2025 & replace it with a EV sports sedan as well.

He'd already been signed in the co-driver seat at one of the DJR cars

Penske aren't in Supercars anymore.

Heimgartner is surprisingly leaving Kelly-grove at the end of the year, probably for BJR.

I think David's been going off the deep end for a little while now, I seem to recall him getting into the conspiracies on Below the Bonnet last year.

People forget that some African and South American countries require to you prove that you have a Yellow Fever jab or they won't let you in. No different to Covid.

I think the main problem / slippery slope bit with a vaccine requirement is A: how you know everyone is legit & not buying fake ID cards, and B: if a database system is established to combat fake ID cards - how do you make sure there's no data privacy risks involved. Not sure how different the culture is in Aussie racing circles, but I'd say most folks in racing here in America are likely the type that would buy a fake ID card without actually getting the shot if there was a requirement.

-

interesting to see the EPIC location for Canberra being proposed. Also have to say - why not go all the way w/ adding some pavement & use the burnout pad for Summernats as the main straight (pits in a different location would be weird but not unheard of).

surprised to see Heimgartner out at Kelly/Grove

-

Russell Ingall mentioned a rumor about Gen3 project possibly being canceled in the latest Enforcer & The Dude episode - citing long term relevancy issues (GM not selling the Camaro down under + looking to stop production stateside, current gen Mustang aging & OEM's looking larger at EV's). Rumor is that only the 2 showcars would be being built while keeping the current cars on track (partly to help with supply shortages with COVID) & working on a replacement to Gen3 for longer term future (2024 or later).

Will be surprising if that's the case as the Gen3 proposals has looked better as of late (well minus the flappy paddles in the Camaro).

Doubtful but have to wonder if the current + potential series owners & teams are starting to see the mistakes that NASCAR is making with their new car (which is largely just copied homework from the CoTF). Guessing it's more likely on the end of any potential new series owner would like to have it delayed, as that being dropped on them in their first 12 months would be a pain in the ass.

I know the OEM brands are generally a major backer of racing programs across the board, but I'd say both Supercars and NASCAR need to start realizing a future where road relevancy isn't a major factor. Supercars will likely realize this sooner, considering they've already had to learn from that mistake once before with Group A.

-

cross-posting from the Sprint Car thread - Cam Waters looking to expand his sprint car schedule across 410's and 360's later this year & in early 2022. Last month's CoT at Northline was on the cards until it got too risky with rona

I really hope the paddles doesn't happen. They belong in GT cars, not touring cars / stock cars.

There won't be fake ID cards, systems are being set up so when you check into an establishment you'd use a QR code which tells the establishment if you're vaccinated or not.

A nightclub can refuse entry if you're drunk, or wearing shitty clothes, this is no different, people are just up in arms because they're smooth brains.

ah 10-4 - over here they just gives us a paper card after the jab (got my first of 2 back on the 30th) - some states have online databases but not all. It's a hot mess

QR system is smart. Some folks over here was trying to get a QR system set up on the short track side so the safety crews can easily access medical records (QR piece on a hidden spot of the helmet) in case of a bad crash where a driver is hospitalized.

Phillip Island and the Gold Coast have cancelled their rounds.

Peter Adderton has announced his group is out of the running for series ownership. That leaves only a combined bid between TLA Worldwide (the Skaife link) and the Australian Racing Group (who run TCR/S5000 etc) left. They intend to purchase not just the 65% of the series owned by Archer Capital as was initially planned but also the 35% owned by the teams. Archer Capital is reportedly happy with their bid and it's now only up to the teams to confirm the sale with meetings having been held this week to sort that out.

Probably ~15 years ago people said they belong in single-seaters but not GT cars.
