What a shame. That was going to be an incredible race to the finish.

Pretty quiet day by BTCC standards.

I love Thruxton as a circuit but...yeah, it feels like I've never seen a great BTCC race there in the post-Super Touring era (although I didn't see the Dan Eaves clean sweep)
The BTCC was definitely outshone by the supports today. But I think Thruxton is a circuit which is better to watch trackside than on TV.

Neate's been disqualified from the meeting, like the grade F tosser that he is.

After that ramming of Boardly he should have been instantly ejected from the track.

Neate is dreadful. Shouldn't be anywhere near the championship

Turns out he was already a lap down when he hit Boardley, so they weren't even racing. I wonder how much Motorbase need his money?

Get Rob Austin in that car instead.

I don't think the ramming of Boardley was deliberate. From the tyre marks, it looked like he was already out of control and spearing towards Boardley. Malicious? Probably not. Terrible? Yes.

I don't know why people are down on Thruxton, it's always a highlight of the season for me, it's great to see the cars reach some high speeds for once and there's always action around the first chicane as cars try to dive to the inside or make their way around the outside and the left, right, left, right nature of it allows for a lot of switching back

Also, did anyone else notice when they replayed the mini crash before the 2nd mini race, there was someone standing very near the camera shouting "FUCKING 'ELL!" a few times which the mic picked up

This is officially the meeting I've had enough of Paul O Neill's horse shit too

He's just so "off" as a commentator. Interrupting the racing action to mention messages he's got off instagram about his scally mates wanting him to nick a Mini wing for him and getting really down and disappointed over someone accidentally outbraking themselves into the chicane causing them to take air off a kerb, which was one of the worst things he said he'd seen in motorsport because "young drivers are watching this and you need to set an example for them, it's not on!".....WTF?

Lay off the smelling salts, Paul :yuk:

Interestingly, Apparently TOCA pegged back the RWD cars before thruxton meaning they had less power in the start phase of the race (and consequently hurting traction out of slow corners too) so that might have more to do with the apparent lack of racing than Thruxton being not a good track for BTCC

My question is, WHY do they keep trying to do this?
They seem to think RWD start is a huge advantage and they need to be pegged back until they're starting the same as FWD

It's ridiculous. The fact different cars have different strenths and weaknesses at different parts of the race is what makes the BTCC racing as good as it is.
Stop trying to sanatise it all :yuk:

Not true. The adjustments only affected the ECU mapping for the start procedure. RWD performance out of slow corners was unchanged.
