It seems the 23Red Tickford satellite team is in trouble because their sponsor has decided to abandon the team because of the current situation (which is set to be official tomorrow apparently)

Speedcafe is saying that the team is completely pulling out of the series effective immediately, but motorsport.com is saying that they could be continuing with James Courtney driving and Boost Mobile sponsoring.

Either way it seems that Will Davison will be out of a full-time drive, which is unfortunate.

https://www.supercars.com/news/championship/full-revised-calendar-unveiled/

Quote:
It was announced yesterday that Sydney Motorsport Park will host the first round back on June 27-28.

From there, a further 10 events will run through to the new season finale: A second Mount Panorama event on February 5-7, coinciding with planned timing of the 2021 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

All events bar the cancelled Albert Park Formula 1 Grand Prix and the street circuits of Gold Coast and Newcastle will be retained

It’s not yet been determined whether the Auckland round will be held at Hampton Downs or Pukekohe.

Other than Bathurst – which will retain its four-day layout for the 1000, and three days for the finale – all rounds are currently scheduled as two-day events. Race formats are to be announced.

As for the second Bathurst round, it’s not yet clear what portion of GT racing will feature given current international travel restrictions but Seamer confirmed Supercars will take a race format to the Mountain different to that seen in the Great Race.

23red has also confirmed they are leaving the series. Apparently the grid is set to stay at 24 cars, which suggests that the Courtney/Boost rumours are true.

Did Bathurst ever start/finish on that short track they were going to use so they could have more events?

I was wondering why her Instagram changed from photos of her in her driving uniform to her in thongs and much racier awhile back...

Now I know the rest of the story...

The e-series finished up last night. They ran at Oran Park, which was nice. Van Gisbergen won the championship from McLaughlin. I didn't really watch the last three rounds or so but they seem to have gone smoothly and there wasn't much drama unlike other eseries.

https://www.speedcafe.com/2020/06/11/supercars-set-to-end-season-under-lights-at-sydney-in-2020/

In other news it seems the calendar might be getting revised again so that it doesn't go into 2021, with a night race at Eastern Creek being the new season finale. I think this may be particuarly because of the tv contracts which run out at the end of 2020.

Looks like there's a chance of the Sandown 500 returning this year

Pukehoke (and or) Hampton Downs likely canned due to COVID

Supercars returns this weekend with three 125km races at Sydney.

Schedule:
https://www.supercars.com/2020-sydney-supernight-schedule-results/

There's been a few changes made because of personnel restrictions, there will be only two tire changers instead of the usual four and refuelling will not be permitted during the race meaning that teams will only be required to change two tires at the compulsory pitstop (although they will be allowed to change four if they desire). There won't be any support categories participating, they are scheduled to return at Winton.

In other news, Super2 and the unofficial third tier Kuhmo series have merged to form a new multi class series. Not unsurprising given the poor grids in Super2 as of late.

They should put the Supercars, Super2, Super 3 grids all together for a race. Like the good old days in the 90's at Bathurst have a 55 car grid.

Last night I watched the 1999 Eastern Creek races and it was good to see the old privateers on the grid. Dick Johnson was racing against a guy who owned his own garbage disposal company. Neil Crompton was punted by a car who had his own body repair workshop.

These days they could have 72 cars on the grid for some true chaos.

Speaking of old privateers, one of them is back as a sponsor for Nick Percat:

I think you've described why it no longer happens.
