the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship hits the Gold Coast & the Surfers Paradise Street Circuit for the annual Vodafone Gold Coast 600 - round #2 of the PIRTEK Enduro Cup with 600 kilometers split up across the weekend.

Another major component this week is the return of the BOOST Mobile Super Trucks, which is a huge fan favorite. The series hasn't raced in Australia over the last 12 months as the series & Motorsport Australia (CAMS) fought over safety structures. This is their first race since last October at Eastern Creek which was a AASA sanctioned weekend & also appears to be their 2019 finale. Notable one-off entries for the Super Trucks include: past Bathurst 1000 winners Russell Ingall & Paul Morris, 2016 Dakar class winner Toby Price & past NASCAR Cup regular Greg Biffle. The series now features a tire war between Toyo Tires & Continental - as Continental joined the tour this year. The weekend also features the 2019 season finale for the PAYCE Porsche Carrera Cup Australia.

Supporting the race weekend includes: BOOST Mobile Super Trucks, PAYCE Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, ECB SuperUtes, Aussie Racing Cars & Australian GT Championship.

Tickford have announced that the car is a writeoff and they'll be out for the rest of the weekend. It wasn't a massive crash but it did go quite hard head on into the concrete.

Quote:
“Punched the cassis rail back through the firewall,” team principal Tim Edwards told selected media.

“The damage is back as far… well, the engine’s not even connected to the car anymore. It’s sheared the engine off, it’s shoved it backwards through the car.

“The chassis’s a complete write-off and as is a bunch of stuff that’s bolted to it.”

I'm surprised there wasn't a crash on that first lap with most of the co-drivers starting, D'Alberto almost got put into the fence and things got rather congested elsewhere.

And now Perkins has punted D'Alberto up the escape road.

Premat's been given a bad sportsmanship flag for overusing the kerbs... This happens every year here.
