Unless there's a one lap sprint...

They are going so slowly under the SC trying to get the car recovered in time.

The car is being dragged out, I think we'll be getting a one lap sprint as I predicted.

Leave it there and one lap shootout

Bit rich to have the pace car go slow after penalising someone for driving slow under the pace car.

Think it might have been a better finish without that SC, still a good race though.

Good race. Pretty irresponsible to leave all that fluid on the track in the name of a grandstand finish.

Well done to McLaughlin, Premat, Penske and Dick Johnson!

Yeah I'd have liked to see how the fuel situation was going to play out. Good race regardless, it's pretty amazing how often Bathurst throws up these close finishes

It's the same problem F1 has - without a healthy degree of mechanical failure or driver fuckup, long races just increase the lull between the start and the end of the race.

I don't think they're looking at taking away the win, at most they're looking at fining the team or taking away some of its championship points or whatever. If they were officially considering penalising McLaughlin's car then I'm pretty certain they would have specifically stated that in the stewards briefing.

I thought the first half of the race was pretty good, good battles for the lead, Premat vs the A drivers etc. It got into a bit of a holding pattern for a while but every race does.

What is interesting is the modern races are the opposite of the old days; you used to have almost all the action in the first half of the race with cars crashing, dropping out left & right with mechanical problems. Then it was a run home with the fastest car that could be driven without breaking. I liked that too, but prefer the modern era.

https://www.speedcafe.com/2019/10/20/mclaughlin-keeps-bathurst-win-coulthard-put-last-djrtp-docked-points-and-fined/

Final decision has been made by CAMS. $250,000 fine (with $100,000 suspended) for DJRTP, with Coulthard being dropped to 21st and a team points penalty of 300 (plus another 120 taking into account the drop in positions for Coulthard).

Essentially they have been given the maximum financial and points penalty possible under FIA and Supercars rules. The previous biggest fine in Supercars was $200,000 for a testing scandal many years back.

McLaughlin has been allowed to keep his win.

Here is the full information on the decision:
