Coulthard leads the first lap from Whincup and Mostert. McLaughlin fucked the start and dropped to 4th.

De Pasquali's first move was fine. He was up far enough alongside. Got the place the next try any way.

And it's a Mustang 1-2-3 with Coulthard leading McLaughlin and Mostert. Whincup and SVG had a good battle near the end with Whincup finishing up in 4th.

Enjoyable race, not as great as Eastern Creek but good regardless. Prefer the 300km format race, or at least a 300km & and a 150km format tho

I'd give the Perth night racing a 8 out of 10 in terms of aesthetics & general TV / stream viewing

also nice to have another race at a semi-normal time - but weird seeing the sun rise just before the V8 race starts

Aussie GT next

-

also love seeing half of the HRT Lion & Helmet logo on Percat's car

one of the things I've missed seeing on either the Walkinshaw or the Triple Eight cars with the factory team change

V8 Supercars racing at a sociable hour for Europeans, I can get used to this!

Watching these short sprint races though makes me wonder why on earth in such short sprint racing they have any business refuelling, or even pitting at all.
It does nothing for their racing to have close battles split up by a pit stop and most of the racing takes place towards the end of the race when they've shrugged off whatever drama happened in pit lane and the tyres and fuel load are going off...

I had no idea until just now that BT Sports are showing Supercars live in the UK this year. Great news! May be worth adding to the original post?

must of been a mid-season sign, as FreeSports only had coverage at the start of the year

doesn't show coverage for today's race tho (guessing conflicts with MotoGP)

They don't have to stop for fuel during the shorter races as such, only for two tyres (although teams do put on fuel while the tyres are being changed).

4-5 years back they didn't have to stop in the shorter races and the racing wasn't any better if I recall correctly. They use softer tyres in the sprint events then in the longer ones which are supposed to be better for racing but they tend to degrade too badly across a 100+ km distance so the drivers just ended up being too conservative.

It'll probably be on the red button like it was yesterday. BT Sport have something like 5 extra channels that they don't provide schedules for. I'll let you know later

Motor Trend On Demand broadcast starts in 5 or so minutes here in the States (and Canada)

I assume similar coverage will be near for other networks doing live
