Maybe that's better that they will not race in Macau
I prefer to have proper Chinese grid than 5 Wtcr cars

What a shitshow from Goodyear.

It doesn't exactly help that WTCR applies compensation weights on top of the BOP. And the Vallelunga round was very hot and it's a track with long, medium to high speed corners. And Lynk & Co were the ones having the most issues at the Nurburgring. I don't think this situation is entirely Goodyear's fault.

Yeah he was (and still is) completly right. If Firestone or Michelin arrive in WTCR / BTCC / FIA WEC LMP2 / Nascar (or any other series that is run with Goodyear tyres only), Goodyear would be beaten by far for sure. Feel like they don't want to fight against another manufacturer.

Look, it only took 1 year for Bridgestone to beat them in F1 in the 90's. And I'm sure in their 1st season in 1997, if a good team was with Bridgestone (we could see Prost GP & Arrows were quite good that year), they would have beaten Williams for the title.

If you remember it, the 1997 Spanish GP was a nightmare for all Goodyear runners.

Firestone/Bridgestone make the best tyres in racing, period. When was the last time anyone ever complained about them having failures.

Goodyear couldn't make tyres for wheelbarrow racing.

In WEC LMP2 Goodyear has been decent, however they may have inherited the work of Dunlop (Europe brand owned by Goodyear). For one season they even competed against Michelin before the single supplier contract began in 2021.

Berthon wins race 1. Only one puncture in that race.

Let me guess, they get a 10 year contract? And on the condition Macau won't be allowed host any race ever, as the finale will be at Jeddah?

"WTCR promoters evaluating “new one-off event” format for 2023"

But this is apparently different to above idea, drivers from regional TCR series score points and top 15 get invited to 4-day final event

Coronel with pretty harsh words about the WTCR. He's absolutely right. Everyone saw it dying a slow death.

Quite appropriate that the championship ended in farce. They had SEVEN MINUTES to recover Berthon's car and couldn't manage it.
