So...had Most not been canceled 20 days ago, this weekend would have been the opening round. We only have 11 confirmed entries with the first round in 4 weeks. A bit worried...

Events at Vallelunga and Anneau du Rihn have been added to the 2022 WTCR calendar to replace those in Most and Sochi that had been cancelled due to the state of war between Russia and Ukraine.

Interesting. Never heard of that track, just like Circuit Pau-Arnos last year was a new surprise. I like that WTCR doesn't look down on Grade 3 tracks. Many hidden gems among them.

Do we have any more info on that? I just read "for safety reasons". Nordschleife is dangerous, but it's not the first time they were about to race there...

Tyres kept blowing up and delaminating during practice and qualifying especially on the Hondas and Lynks and it seems the drivers didn't want to take the risk.

I wonder why this year. They don't have any new car and surface changes was made few years ago. Are they using different spec/tyres this year? I don't get it

Goodyear are a joke. Can't make tyres for anything including road cars.

I guess not a batch issue either:

Quote:
Before qualifying, the stewards had accepted Goodyear’s request to supply two extra new tyres to each of the series’ 17 entries from “an additional batch from a different build period”, while teams were given an extra 15-minute test session, which took place directly before qualifying.

But during qualifying Cyan Racing’s Yvan Muller suffered another tyre failure on his first lap, following punctures in both free practice sessions.

Well good, there's far too much racing this weekend, tell them to sort their tyres out and come back next weekend instead :whistling:

It doesn't help that the organisers insist on using the same compound of tyres at every track. That is really the root problem.

Yeah I mean come on, even BTCC has thruxton specific tyres, and that track has gotta be 1% of the demand on the tyres the Nurburgring is :slaphead:

I felt like a cancellation might have been coming after Muller's post-qualifying comments...
