Some interesting developments were reported by Supercars Trackside on the Sunday after the race regarding a new manafacturer. Apparently representatives from Kia were at the Newcastle track and they might be looking at entering in 2020 with the Kellies who don't have a manafacturer after this year. The Kellies are reportedly a bit hesistant as it would mean developing another engine (presumably the Stinger V6 twin-turbo).

As far as the Kellies' 2019 season goes, Caruso was apparently talking in the paddock about not having a full-time drive for 2019 and that he was trying to get a co-driver role. Heimgartner might also be in the same boat. Reportedly Alex Rullo and Garry Jacobson are looking at taking their places.

**************

Richie Stanaway has a contract for 2019 with Tickford, however there seem to be some doubts about whether he'll be staying on. He himself came out today and said that:

Quote:
“I think some massive changes need to be made with the people I’ve got around me if I was to do another year anyway, because if I’m given the same opportunity I was given this year then I wouldn’t be interested.

“It’s not even close to what I need to be competitive.

“The team need to pick up their game in order for me to be interested anyway.

“I’d love to do another year but the team needs a massive overhaul with everything surrounding running me.

“They obviously haven’t given me what I’ve needed and I think I’m capable of being successful, but I’ve got to be given the crew and the tools around me to do it as well.”

Supercars Trackside also talked about Tickford replacing Winterbottom with Holdsworth or Le Brocq. However there's an issue with that, in that it's been unofficially confirmed (by Speedcafe) that Tickford has handed back in a REC. That could mean either that that rumour is false, or that it's actually Richie getting replaced (or that they haven't actually handed back in a REC).

Richie's performance is one of the oddest things I've seen in racing, how can he got some in some ways being the class the of the field in the enduros last year to being basically plum last, something doesn't seem right

Kuhmo V8 Touring Cars has been rebranded as the Kuhmo Super3 Series. The series will keep current management, but will shift to running a bulk of Virgin Australia Supercars Championship races with the only exception being their season finale at Sandown with Shannon's Nationals.

Common sense has prevailed and the Gold Coast 600 won't be having a format change next year after all:

David Reynolds was given the championship's "best and fairest" award, the Barry Sheene Medal, for the second year in a row:

Wilson Security has ended their sponsorship of GRM:

Scotty McLaughlin will continue to use the classic DJR #17 next year:

https://www.speedcafe.com/2018/11/30/tickford-confirms-23red-racing-tie-up/

23Red will become the fourth Tickford entry next year with Will Davison driving alongside Cameron Waters, Chaz Mostert and a yet-to-be-named third driver. This means that Tickford has handed in a REC as reported and that we are officially back to 24 cars.

Lee Holdsworth is rumoured for Frosty's old car, really hope he gets it. That guy has had bad cars and worse luck most of his career.

In all seriousness that would be cool if it happens, I'll believe it when I see it though.

Hardly comes as a surprise, I wonder if he'll get snapped up for the Enduros, because he HAS proven he has the goods

Hopefully he isn't lost for good given the talent that he showed in previous years.

Holdsworth confirmed at Tickford: https://www.motorsport.com/v8supercars/ ... 9/4312803/

Hope they give him better equipment than Stanaway got.

That's good for Stanaway. I didn't expect him to stick around after leaving Tickford.

https://www.motorsport.com/v8supercars/news/boost-team-rec-stanaway-2019/4321084/

It turns out that Boost Mobile wanted to start an entire new team but for whatever reason they weren't able to secure a REC, so instead they've gone to sponsor GRM on the condition that they kick Tander to the curb for Stanaway...
