The decision to try for a start on a too-wet track inadvertently screwed over both Hondas

I don't normally want to support anything that might make them hesitant to give us wet racing when track conditions are deserving of it, but something probably should be done, maybe inserting a force majure clause into the rules so Neal could've restarted and the conditions could account for the damage to Shedden's front wing.

There was a river coming out of the pits, that should have said something.

That rolled so slowly and gently that I couldn't even work out why it was suddenly upside down when I first watched

Clios gotta Clio.

Is there any update on Billy Monger? Hard to find anything useful via Google today.

Nothing more then what we already know.

Some terribly written articles out there by the usual suspects.

Yeah, I've been skimming those. I know the story is just a young, low-tier racing driver with non-life-threatening injuries but it's still kind of a tiny glance at the failed state of journalism. All you can find are poorly-written, quasi-sensationalist, Twitter-sourced, and even somewhat plagiarized versions of the same thing over and over from one site to the next.

Like, what good does it do us to hear that his family is devastated? That he has a cousin wishing him well and praying for him? I think we can all assume that friends and family of an injured person are concerned for him. But since no organizations have taken the effort to find any details, they just quote these close-ones of his as a form of tragedy porn.

Just caught up on the weekend's racing after being at Donington on Sunday. I certainly can't deny that was an action-packed event, a bit too action-packed you might say! I was on the outside between Redgate & Hollywood, so that huge Clio crash happened right in front of me. Poor Lucas Orrock, two rolls in two events and another wrecked car. Then, of course, James Colburn turned it turtle in race 2 and like others in this thread I didn't immediately notice it. I guess after his barrel roll at Goodwood last year that he wanted more. I'd rate those races Clios/10.

Judging by the lack of updates on Billy Monger, other than the original report, I'd say he's doing relatively OK. If it was worse we'd probably know by now. It was one of those crashes that you could see coming before it happened. Pasma spun and ended up on the racing line, then you had a group of cars approaching and Monger was completely unsighted.

Juniors provided their typical incredible action, if a bit over the top at times. Ginetta must make a fortune out of selling replacement bonnets!

Dan Cammish is simply too good for Porsches. 20th to 4th in the second race and pulling off late braking manoeuvres that nobody else even seemed capable of making. The leaders had a bit of a scare on the last lap as a couple of Pro-Am 2 drivers had a coming together on the exit of Redgate and spread debris everywhere.

In hindsight the last touring car race was a bit too wet to be started, although I've seen and been at races run in similar conditions. I guess the level of water was only just over the limit of acceptability. We were lucky that everyone made it around to the grid though as quite a few cars exited the pits on slicks! Most people cheered at Neal going off, and they weren't sarcastic cheers either. I was surprised but not disappointed at him not being allowed to take the restart. I'll have to take a look at the rules regarding that situation to see how they're worded.

I have to praise the organisers for getting all of the races in. The last Ginetta race took place after the BTCC and was clean, with only a couple of spins. I didn't get back to the car park until 7:30 and somehow managed to get slightly burnt!

Despite being the cause of the red flag in Clio's race 2, Rivett's been reinstated thus given the win.

Not sure what the rules say about Neal being able to restart but Tim Harvey mentioned immediately that Neal was in trouble. The marshals were going to get him out of the gravel, not sure why he decided to floor it and dig himself into a hole.

Edit: Though it was tweeted by Alice Powell, I have started to wonder about the legitimacy of the page. But since Jamie Caroline's also since tweeted it, I guesss it is.

Very sad to hear. I hoped that his legs were only broken, but guess the damage was just massive.
Of course Alex Zanardi proves that you can have a successful racing career even without legs, but I'm sure racing isn't on his mind at the moment.
The worst thing is that accident of that kind can happen in any category. Peter Li is lucky for not suffering the same fate last year at Red Bull Ring.
