Do they purposely try and make it look as awful as possible?

Probably the only thing that could rival the Pepsi Max schemes in terms of awfulness is Caruso's car this weekend. Whoever thought it was a great idea to add green to a red and silver car needs to be shot.

The cover is very mis-leading

One page over, Mazda Australia say they are not interested in V8Supercars and would not even allow their bodyshape to be used in the series

lol it's AA, it's to be expected!

That car does look super sexy though. Mazda shell with a Ford engine probably wouldn't go down well however, even if they do sleep together as companies in the road car market.

Ford owns a stake in Mazda. They share cars sometimes too. The Ford Fiesta and the European Mazda 121 in the 90s were the same car. I still don't think it'd happen, but that is not an entirely unrealistic combo.

Yeah I know they are thus saying they are in bed together, the ranger and BT50 are the same car as well. However at best I would expect re-branded or de-badged engines (not that that are 'badged' to begin with) if they did go down this path, one thing is for sure though, it WOULD be the current engine but it worries me what it would mean for future development of the Ford Coyote V8 which is ready and waiting to be introduced.

Apparently the article explains that:

Quote:
AA says the deal with Mazda isnt on... that Mazda havent been requested to authorise use of the Mazda 6 body shape for a CotF chassis.

The article also goes on to say that DJR shall be a 2 car team next season, that Mr Fiore is off to other pastures

Well this is all very interesting!

Just going back to next years calander and Albert Park race. From when i heard Skaife said on the radio earlier in the year, its not so much a television rights deal but more an F1 track time issue. Our best example was this years saturday race that got cut from 20 laps to 7 because of a 1st lap crash. Unless they cut back on support races i cant see it being a points race even if 10 do get back the rights.

Also from what iv been reading but could be old news, all the major channels are bidding for the new rights, foxtel could be a chance to simulcast live and theres a whisper going round that the clipsal 500 could be raced under lights.

Ford sold off most of their stake in Mazda, down to just 3 percent. Their relationship has been strained for a few years now, with Ford ending shared product development and Mazda leaving their joint-venture factory in Michigan.

Small block Chevy swaps are always easy, though.

Adopting V8 Supercars’ own ‘generic engine’ could also be an option. Based off of a Chevrolet LS3 block, the powerplant has been partially developed by Craig Hasted on behalf of the category, and will be completed upon the request of any manufacturer that wishes to enter without their own units.

Clipsal organisers put to bed the night races on cost grounds

with Channel 9 struggling to survive at the moment, and Channel 10 today calling for voluntary reduncancies due to a record yearly loss, i don't think there is much of a bidding war going on, i'd expect the rights to stay with Channel 7

That was quite a big crash, any series would've have lost 30 odd minutes because of that (the Douglas half roll I'm thinking of?).

Thats the one, but from what skaife said because the track pretty much belongs to Bernie for the 4 days he could pull them off track when ever he wants (very unlikely of course). Could be tv rights but i think its deeper than that.

I'm just thankful the V8s won't be Foxtel exclusive due to the anti-siphoning list, and the damage it would do to teams trying to attract sponsors.

I'd prefer they go back to Ten/One but seeing that network is on the ropes we may be stuck with most of the races on 7Mate.

There's going to be 3 x 12 lap sprints in Abu Dhabi in a couple of weeks. While it should be great to watch on TV, it does seem pretty pointless to go all that way for just 3 short sprints, especially with no other supports.

They should be exciting races at least.

Just been a very decent rollover (maybe 6 or so times) in the first aussie racing race.

Don't need support races when the races go out live at 7pm or 8pm on 7mate
Besides it's gotta weasel in between F1 and FIA-tier supports, I'd like to see it.

I meant the V8's are the only ones supporting F1 that weekend. But don't get me wrong, after what happened at Sandown, they should be crackers to watch.
