Great day's racing. Ignoring the Porsches, everything was fantastic!

PHEW!

I'll say what I said on Twitter again, BTCC needs to look into some kind of online second screen option to cover all the exciting battles in races like that.
The TV director didn't know which part to focus on at some points, Collard overtaking for 3rd? Shedden overtaking for 5th?
Both? Neither? Arghhh!

We totally need a Track A and Track B to cover everything! :8:

Anyway congrats on that win Rob Collard.

Don't think Jordan will be holding onto that one ;)

Gio's penalty was upheld, therefore he will start Snetterton Race 1 from the back of the grid.

Jordan just gets a grid penalty like Plato did. Knock your way past you get moved behind them, take them out of the race completely and keep your position :/

Sheds lost his podium and was put behind Jackson while Collard will be joining Gio at the back.

It's like we expected. It's a flood of penalties. Good they are doing it though.

So let me get this straight... Collard and Sheds were given on the road penalties for marginal but rough overtakes, yet Jordan who literally shoveled Gio out of the lead gets nothing? (5 place grid penalty is nothing, no loss of points). Today's driving was embarrassing for BTCC. Plato should have been thrown out for his move on Menu in race 2, same for Jordan after race 3.

Jack Goff's treatment by his competition in race 3 reminded me of Andy Rouse's Mondeo debut at Pembrey in 1993.

Edit - just reread the article and I see Collard got a grid penalty not an on the road penalty. Hmmm... So how did Sheds get something different?

Jordan got a 10 place penalty, but yeh, I understand the point.

The problem is the punishments don't fit.

Plato punts off Menu. Menu has to start at the back and gets 0 points. Plato gets a 10 place drop (still above Menu) and the points for the place he punted Menu from. Plato commits the crime, everybody agrees he committed the crime, and the punishment still puts him in a better position than the victim.

Jordans outcome is actually even worse. He punts off Gio and retires with nothing. Jordan gets a 10 place drop, which he'll make up easily at the next round, and the points and a win. So once again, Jordan commits the crime, everybody agrees, and he keeps the win, and Gio comes away with nothing.

BTCC finally is penalising drivers correctly (diskish driving is punished, hard racing is not), but they need to be firm. No 10 place drops, in a series where passing is relatively easily. If you punt another car off in a blatant manner, you get your points removed and sent to the back of the next grid. No half measures.

However that doesn't detract from the fact that they provided fantastic racing, unlike at the previous round.

I hope I'm wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's because Shedden is up near the top of the standings. Got to make sure it stays close and goes down to the wire...

Exactly. The BTCC is an entertainment series first and foremost nowadays.

DTM doesn't even come up on my radar for a series to watch. It's such a disgrace of a series in almost every way that I don't even consider it. And given I still consider TUSCC despite it being run by people who don't even know what cars race in there own series, that says a lot!

DTM is under even NASCAR for series I will watch.

Yeah, "lesser" drivers tend to be punished more harshly for some reason. e.g.: Depper & Hynes at Brands.

Felt Collard's penalty was pretty harsh, looked to me like Goff slid out wide in the corner before then tried to block once Collard was already there. Agree with the other posts about the inconsistency of punishment, though penalties being handed out is definitely a step in the right direction.
