Why?

Whincup had a 10+ second lead that was more than halved even after Courtney had cleared the traffic once the saftey car left the circuit.

I think Courtney benefitted more than enough from the safety car coming out.

Because it would have put on a better race. That's why F1, NASCAR, Indycar all do it too. The leader already has the advantage of clean air and control over the restart. That's more than enough.

It's official now, "djr team penske". Great news for the sport. Wonder what changes will be made there management wise. Also fantastic to see Ambrose back into the fold.

Hopefully, maybe Ambrose can still run the NASCAR road races in a third Penske car if it's an off weekend for the V8's and also that they might show the V8's on American TV again with Penske involved.

I guess it's a matter of opinion. I don't consider safety cars and guys 10secs behind being given a leg up to the race leader a "better race"

If it was up to racer69, there would be no safety cars (just leave the car by the side of the road and aviod it) and there would be no pitlane speed limit.

Rose tinted glasses and all that.

Your racing category would also be flat broke as everyone would be bored shitless and not watch it.

I prefer each racing series to be more unique than more similar. The V8's are already too much like NASCAR as it is. At least they've got manufacturer variety.

Quite interesting the move of having Pukekohe towards the end of the year, personally I think it's a good move however one thing that is very interesting and relates to the V8 test days being on the same day as the Bathurst 12hr is that the Pukekohe date clashes with the highlands 101 Aussie GT race which proved to be very successful and attracted a number of V8 drivers....

In other scheduling news, Warburton & Co are now fucking with the development series, as they are apparently considering moving the opening round of the series from Adelaide to the Sydney Motorsport Park test day (the one on the same weekend as the Bathurst 12 Hour), and removing Adelaide from the schedule altogether, despite "strong unrest" regarding the potential move from the teams in the series, as they see the Clipsal 500 as being vital to their sponsors. Not to mention that the Clipsal 500 is one of the events live on free to air TV next year, and that the Dunlop Series will probably be shown on that FTA broadcast, whereas an FTA broadcast of a Dunlop event at the Eastern Creek would probably be limited to a half hour highlights package two weeks after the event, or something.

:slaphead:

At least they are considering adding the Sandown 500 to the list of Dunlop events. And that again, is a considering.

I didn't used to like Cochrane but this Warburton dude is a crook. I respect Cochrane a lot more now that he's not there.

This series is on the verge of being as well organised as WTCC.

I haven't looked. I haven't watched V8s on Motors all year.

Cars going to be very fast this year. Reynolds has done a 2.06.27, beating Lowndes' practice record set in 2010.

Tander crashed in the Dipper, bringing out the red flag.

Wall also had what sounds like a wild accident, his car blew a right-rear tire on Conrod Straight and hit the fence. Speaking of accidents, there was also what sounds like a big smash in the Dunlop Series, a driver called Peter Rullo lost it in the Chase and by the looks of aftermath photos put his car head-on into the wall.

Meanwhile, a prototype livery for Ambrose's car for next season has been revelead. It looks awful:
