Fireworks at the finish!

And the top 5 is SVG from Whincup, McLaughlin, Lowndes and Mostert.

Good race. Lame winner. I hope they do this night thing again.

That closes up the title race a fair bit, the gap is now down to less then 100 points between SVG and McLaughlin.

Todd Hazelwood and Matt Stone have abandoned the Falcon with immediate effect and will be running his Super2 championship winning Holden from last year for the next round onwards. They've signed a technical support deal with Triple Eight and will be switching to the current model Holden next year.

The first ever round at Tailem Bend is this weekend on the 4.95km International Circuit. It comes as the series heads towards the business end of the season, with the three enduros and the final two sprint rounds the only events after this weekend. Scotty McLaughlin leads the series but only by 90 points over Shane Van Gisbergen, who did race here in the GT round earlier in the year unlike McLaughlin. The momentum in the last few rounds has also been in favour of Triple Eight, with their drivers winning 4 of the last 5 races.

Also of note is that there are two extra entries for the round for Macauley Jones (Holden) and Kurt Kostecki (older Holden) bringing the total number of starters to 28.

Here is the schedule for the weekend:

And here is an onboard lap in an old Group A E30 M3 from earlier in the year. Hopefully there's less dust going around this weekend.

van Gis wins. Kelly and Caruso 2nd and 3rd, which is a solid run for them. Whincup ended up 4th, Winterbottom has a 5th which he and Prodrive will be pleased with while McLaughlin got a disappointing 6th. Hopefully Scott can get a better run tommorow, his championship lead has dropped from 89 to 41 points today. It seems the Red Bulls are definitely the class of the field here though. All in all that was a fairly mediocre race by Supercars standards.
