Probably like Martin Plowman picking up one of my tweets, the ego search.

That's it?

Lol, that's a point. Since I moved to the States it's now an 80 minute drive to Watkins Glen, 4 hours to Mid-Ohio, 6 hours to Lime Rock and 7 hours to Mosport. :p

Yeah definitely.

All my local oval tracks and Lime Rock are within 90min.

NHMS is 3.5hr, Pocono is 4.5, Dover 5, Glen is like 6 and change, etc, etc.

...and this is one of the most densely packed areas for pro racing in the country.

It's a shame I can't drive (or none of the tracks are accessible if you don't drive) otherwise I'd have less time to waffle on here and more time to post tapatalk updates from actual racetracks with actual content to share.

I've tried my hardest to talk about the Birmingham Superprix to the MP's I occasionally meet to get them to bring it back, but only one cared and he was an ex racing driver

I've also tried battering down the cyber-door of Inca race to get a link up between them and my radio station's sport show but they won't even reply...*frustration*

Check out this thread, viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7773

I thought you might like it and you can present them to the MPs if you want to! :p

Decent day of racing. Missed some of the Porsche races, which seemed to be entertaining by their usual standards. Sadly the BTCC penalties were as consistant as always, but at least the championship is looking better. Honda need a big lead because I can see them really struggling at Silverstone. Collard and Jordan aren't completely out of it either.

Not only did my girl sit through about 3 hours of the coverage with me, she also thought Plato was 'a bit of a prick.' Yay. :p

I think the ideal place for a motor racing fan to live is somewhere in the middle of the country. I only really have Snetterton within an hour. Brands is 90 minutes if you get a clean run over the bridge on the M25. Silverstone/Rockingham - 2 hours. Thruxon/Donington - nearer 3. Never even been to Croft/Oulton or Knockhill. I always forget about Mallory Park and Castle Combe as well.

Here's the round up of penalties

Race 1: Aron Smith received three penalty points on his competition licence and was fined £500 for an incident involving Jason Plato
Gordon Shedden received two penalty points on his licence plus an official reprimand for an incident involving Aron Smith
Daniel Welch received three penalty points and was fined £500 for an incident involving Jeff Smith.
Race 2: Chris James received three penalty points and was fined £500 for an incident involving Daniel Welch.

Smith
"It was a racing incident," he said of the Clark's contact. "Because it's Jason I've been hit with a penalty, but similar things have happened this season and they've been called racing accidents.

"Look at what Jason and Matt [Neal] did at Snetterton [where they hit each other]; they got verbal warnings.

"He was hanging me out to dry and I got to the point where I had to either drive into the gravel or turn in."

Smith also believes he had little option with the earlier contact on the start/finish straight.

"Jason was slow out of the hairpin and went to the inside to defend.

"Tom [Onslow-Cole] was right there and started to move to my left so I had the choice of going across the front of him or hitting Jason and I even lifted to not hit him too hard.

"It definitely wasn't intentional. I've got a lot of respect for him and it's a shame we've got off on the wrong foot."
I'm quite Central in terms of West/East, but obviously down South. It's nice because circuits are fairly near, but I've got good links to big cities such as London. So you have to take the good with the bad! Hopefully in 2013 I'll be visiting foreign circuits

Thanks to a combination of things I've only this evening managed to watch the three races.

All I can say is... Jason Plato, what an 'effing hypocrite!

Jason Plato wrote:
There are only two things you can deduce, either he did it on purpose and wanted to take me out, or it was an accident and he needs to have his licence taken away.

I'm going to go all the way on this - I'll take it to the MSA tribunal and beyond

I'm sure in his interview with Louis Goodman he made reference to being hit with a 10mph or so speed differential, effectively ramming him off the road. And that comment reminded me of something else.... hmmm....

Although the best quote was this...

Autosport.com wrote:
Plato also hit out at the equalisation measures in the series, which mean that some cars are allowed to run more turbo boost than others.

Someone should make a compilation of Plato taking people out and send it to him.

There isn't a hard-drive big enough to store that much footage, nor any bandwidth wide enough to allow someone to upload or download that.

A quick trawl through BTCC.net forums shows that Chris James currently has 10 points on his license, all accumulated in 2012.
