HARD are well known to stick their fingers into as many pies as possible. I doubt they'll disappear from the BTCC but I wouldn't be surprised if they down-sized.

In support series news, Ginetta have suspended JHR Developments from competing for the rest of the year.

And they run about 8 cars, including Priaux in Juniors who is amidst the title battle.

Pretty shocking move from the series organisers, they must have had to be pretty damn unhappy to chuck out a good percentage of their field :8:

Don't a fair few BTCC teams have cars in multiple series? Why would a team adding cars to TCR be a threat to BTCC, whereas a team running in British GT isnt?

Sounds like engine irregularities may be to blame

But they won the appeal over that.

Ginetta being petty?

Sounds like it. JHR probably did do something hooky, and won their appeal based on a procedural error or the wording in the regulations not being 100% clear, much like how Matt Neil won his appeal over the ride height infringement at Snetterton because the wrong person did the test (or the person doing the test wasn't wearing their bib).

Doesn't Lawrence have history of acting like a dog with a bone? Didn't he have some disagreement with RBS a while back (and by default, the Government) about overdrafts and such, and went running to the press after because he didn't like the outcome?

Here's the report of the appeal.

AmD are also interested in TCR.

They make noises about being able to run in all three series (GT, BTCC and TCR) but that's because they have the budget atm

When the budget is stretched, as it always is from time to time in Motorsport, then it'll be telling which series they stick with

In a way the BTCC could be a victim of its own success here, as sponsors flock to it because of its TV and spectactor numbers, giving teams a lot of money in pocket to expand
Then they expand to rival series, all well and good while the money is pouring in, but when it stops, they'll likely stick with the cheaper series.

I'm still yet to be convinced WHY we need a TCR series on top of one of the world-leading touring car series we have here already, and remain annoyed and concerned all we're going to do is water down the BTCC from a current maximum capacity grid to having 2 series running 15 cars in 5 years or so

The off season thread is going to be a very interesting one indeed.

(Also from TCRs point of view, do they want to be seen as a BTCC b-team championship? :? )
