Crowd figures was 297300 which was 5% less than last year (97000 on race day). Still pretty good if you ask me when you consider that some IRL rounds only brought 65,000 people during race day.

Now i'm gonna leave the media centre and get pissed lol.

It was dead this year (because of anna bligh). Race(s) were great, overall the weekend was fun, not the best year though. I just hope 2009 wont be worse or else many people wont come.

5% down on crowd numbers compared to last year. And when you consider that some of the corporate grandstands were missing there could of been more.

True but surely it's important enough for a slight decrease. 5% isn't that much

If you'll buy that, I've got some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you too.

Damn Clipsal was only 6000 short of that this year. Clipsal will be hoping to crack the 300,000 mark next year. The 09 event has its launch on Friday, so supports and concerts get announced then.

I noticed a lot of discussion for the V8 Race 3.
The same finishing order of Whincup, Tander, Winterbottom for all 3 races.

McConville caused the 1st SC when an electrical failure caused the car to come to a halt on track. Thompson then had the same trouble under the SC.
Holdsworth jumped to 2nd during the pit stops after Tander's crew had a problem with a rattle gun.
Van Gisbergen turned around Perkins at Turn 4, causing damage to his car which bought out the SC. Caruso also hit the wall around this time.
Holdsworth lost his 2nd spot the lap after the 2nd restart when had a moment into Turn 3 and had to run down the escape road.

Awesome race, really close. Finally a proper series again.

If you'll buy that, I've got some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you too.

No one said that it'd be fixed in a short time.

did 7 show the awesome drifting that Whincup did during the slow down lap? I was in the media centre watching it on the screen and at the final corner he actually drifted and generated tire smoke. It was awesome! :P Drifting in a V8 Supercar haha. The fans went bonkers there and started cheering lol.

Edit it was 94000 people on race day. I mixed 2 of the days up.

Yeah they did, not sure about his last corner drift though. I was kinda dissapointed though when his crew told him that he couldn't do any doughies over the radio.

To have Penske, Ganassi, Newman-Haas and Andretti Green all back together at Surfer's for me is an excellent thing.

If IndyCar and CCWS didn't die for all those years opposed, with 15 car grids, it isn't going to die now.
And, I think it will remain on the GC.
