Just caught up with all three races. Race 1 felt like a 125cc race. How many years has Matt Neal been racing BTCC? The divebomb on lap 1 I can just about forgive, but the idiocy in the aftermath of his puncture makes me wonder whether he should have been banned for race 2 or have his license taken away. I haven't seen or read any of the post race reviews so I'm unsure whether he was punished. If he wasn't then I'll be as dumbstruck as I was when I witnessed someone with 25 years BTCC experience pulling across a long line of cars in an attempt to get his stricken car in to the pits.

No he wasn't, but perhaps they felt him having to eat humble pie on live TV and apologise for his antics after race three was enough humiliation lol

lol good point, I'll have to rewatch that interview. I heard some apology but couldn't make out what it was for. Even so, I thought Andy Neate was no longer in the Honda team. Clearly Matt misses his presence...

I can't believe Matt Neal had the front to try and blame Josh Cook for an incident HE caused. Oh wait, yes I can, he's been talking out of his arse for his entire career and today was no exception. He even had the audacity to complain about people tapping his rear bumper around the back of the circuit. I mean, it's not as if that's the only way he knows how to overtake others, is it :whistling: ? Absolute twat.

Very good racing all day though. The last Junior race & last F4 race were nuts! It was a real shame that Welch had a part failure in race 3, I think he could have held on to a top 5 if he was lucky.

In regards to the tyres, it's really a combination of things:
- If there weren't so many NIMBYS around, the teams would have more opportunities to test at Thruxton in warmer conditions.
- The teams should know by now to be more conservative with the setups but obviously that's never going to happen.
- There's also no reason for a touring car to have to weigh 1280kg. The current cars are 130kg heavier than the BTC & S2000 cars were, and 225kg heavier than the super tourers were. Of course, I know that the previous generation of car also had a problem with tyre failures, but you never see Clios blowing left-fronts and I'm pretty sure they're lighter than the current and previous-gen BTCC cars.

And my God, ITV's coverage was utterly horrendous. They didn't bother to show the first Junior race, they had severely truncated ADHD coverage of the first Clio race where I don't think they even showed a full lap before cutting to another (and considering there was an hour of waffle before any racing was shown and 40 minutes of waffle at the end of the broadcast, there was plenty of time to show these races in full), and the graphics were all over the place! After the first Clio race we saw AW-E being interviewed but with Dan Zelos' info on the caption, the results the displayed for the first BTCC race were completely wrong (Shedden 11 laps down? Wat), Louise talked to Jeff Smith who was starting 4th before race 2, but he somehow finished 21st in race 1 if the graphics were to be believed. They even fucked up after the first BTCC race at Donington, having a load of Ginetta drivers included in the results. And we have to put up with this shit until 2022!

Stay classy, TD.

They might be able to build fast cars but their conduct is disgraceful. I have no respect for that team whatsoever.

Wow what utter dicks. I hope Alan Gow has a word, even though (based on Neal's post race 3 apology) he probably has already.

Not the first time Sr Neal has run his mouth off at someone, last time he got punched iirc.

You'll have to remind me, who was it against last time?

I'm as much a loss as you, but I distinctly remember hearing Steve got in a fight with someone in the paddock a few years ago, might have been more than a few though, they have been around a while and pissed off a lot of people, it could have happened more than once lol

Was it to do with the Plato incident at Rockingham?

late as usual. ignoring the tyre issues, that was some great racing overall! it's been a competitive season, I think championship will go down to the wire. Hopefully Subaru gets their act together soon, would like to see them be strong contenders.

I didn't notice those things but at least ITV is leagues ahead of eurosport's wtcc coverage, where the camera directors seem to like trolling Martin
