The race 2 grid will be decided using the 2005-14 method.

Meh, the starting from the pitlane was getting silly but now we're back to the situation where a dnf in race 1 ruins the weekend. Pity they couldn't come up with a better solution, though I think most options would get exploited.

But if you DNF'd in race 1 under the 2015 rules you start from the back anyway unless you completed 90% of the laps.

The percentage is only relevant if you're still running. If you DNF, you start at the back regardless of how many laps you complete.

Looks like Matt Simpson (from the Intermarque Series) will be running a Civic next year.

It looks like at least one of those teams may have full backing from a manufacturer next year. Honda are not included obviously. Also, there is a possibility of another manufacturer on top of that as they are said to be very keen to become involved in the championship.

Jack Clark should take the 3rd seat at Honda too.

Not sure if this was ever posted, but a very interesting interview with Steve Soper on the '92 finale and his wreck with Cleland: http://www.pmw-magazine.com/articles.php?ArticleID=438

I was a bit bemused that he essentially says outright that he blocked Cleland to let Harvey past (and actually calls it "one of my best moments of driving") and then ran into his door when Cleland passed him back, but disagrees that he was there to influence the championship outcome. Cleland's move to resolve things at the end definitely shows who the bigger man is.

I think there are still axes to grind anyway, John was definitely wound up and pulled a move that wasn't on then left soper no where to go on the exit.

It's the closest btcc has ever been to nascar tbh.

Also so unnecessary because Harvey was ahead so would've won the championship without all that

Six of one and half a dozen of the other. Both in the accident and how they resolved the MSA Tribunal. Cleland was as much looking out for himself as he was being gracious with the offer of truce.

On race day Soper did his job and got in the way, Cleland in return did a move which was unusually aggressive for him. As for the evidence, John always sounded like he drove angry. Throughout 1992 he was miked up for the TV broadcasts. It was entertaining but didn't mean he was angry, I point out the third round at Oulton Park and Silverstone GP support races as examples.

I still feel both Hoy and Cleland were more deserving of the title that year, and in that one race Harvey was as heavy handed as Soper by taking out Bailey and then later Hoy. But while I didn't get the result I wanted, it was one of the best examples of touring car racing we'll ever have. And I was there!!

The thing that makes me laugh about the whole incident is the dubbed on cheering on the bbc highlights clip

I don't doubt a lot of people were either gasping or cheering as it happened but the crowd reaction on tv sounds so fake

And i don't doubt Harvey was as bad, based on his commentary over the years it's clear he has a liberal attitude to the use of the bumper when necessary. That's what haopens in championship decoders, limits are pushed to breaking point.

I also have always wondered if Soper's car would've failed a weight check since most of the rear of it was smashed off
