MG will announce their drivers in the next couple of weeks. Both have been signed.

Congratulations on 15th in the championship, Andy. What a waste of a car. :yuk:

As a 3rd car? Guess if he wants to waste his money won't be any different to the additional cars Vauxhall used to run

Once the 2016 season gets underway Andy Neate can boast an envious and exclusive CV having driven for all of the best BTCC teams of the last 15-20 years... West Surrey Racing, 888, Arena and now Team Dynamics. Yet at each team he's done diddly-squat other than bend more metal than Plato did in 1997.

During the mid-2000's VX-Racing ran additional cars for Gavin Smith, Paul O'Neill, Luke Hines, Erkut Kizilirmak and Tom Onslow-Cole. Kizilirmak only did a couple of rounds so results were sparse. The others did full seasons. All bar Smith won races, but Smith at least achieved a couple of podiums. The additional cars VX-Racing ran were at a time when BTCC wasn't in as rude health as it is now and O'Neill, Hines, TOC were decent drivers. It is hard to see how Neate might achieve anything significant in 2016 considering the equipment he'll have at his disposal. Actually, disposal is probably a good word describe how Neate's will treat his car in 2016.

I was more thinking of Smith in terms of money over talent in 3rd cars, though you're definitely correct that Neate's got a truly impressive record for wasting front running cars.

2010: 18th
2011: 18th
2012: 16th

17 top 10 finishes in 101 starts, while driving for some of the best teams in the business. Set up his own team which didn't even last a year. He's the embodiment of the phrase "All the gear, no idea".

Agree with your points and it was money over talent for Smith. But at least Smith was fairly decent prior to BTCC, doing pretty well in a couple of seasons of the Seat Cupra Cup. What I didn't know until today is that Gavin is Aron Smith's elder brother.

He's still doing business in various ventures but has retired from racing.

Either you are Andy Neate, or his mum. No-one can truly be excited about the prospect of him being back in BTCC unless you are one of those people.

If we have to have rich business people in the championship, can't we at least have Dave Pinkney back?

Pinkney was a great character in the sport and also brought some color with him.

Well with Rob Collard still around, that quota is pretty much filled.
