Seems like the series dislikes the Ford/Penske dominance so they ordered aero changes on the Mustang.

https://www.autosport.com/sup/news/1428 ... nt-mustang

What a pathetic joke :yuk:

back & forth BOP - nothing new

but where was it when Nissan, Merc & Volvo was struggling?

and it's not like all of the Ford's are that competitive - as DJR has done their homework compared to Tickford

-

the biggest joke is yet to come, mainly whenever they lower horsepower numbers on the excuse of "cost savings" when they cross-mirror their next package with NASCAR (Cup rumored to use a VASC style chassis with independent rears, and use the same mid 500 HP numbers on the next engine package :yuk: )

meanwhile the NASCAR engine builders are spending more each time NASCAR changes the tapered spacer every other year (although given the rumored turbo V8 engine package - it seems like they just want to use GT3 or GT4 engines with minor changes)

Where on earth did you hear about that?

see above on the Speedcafe article on the turbo V8's
https://www.speedcafe.com/2019/04/18/v8 ... ing-drive/

there's been many rumors (started by insiders) over the last 2 years within NASCAR circles that the "Gen7" Cup package will be using a CoTF style chassis - including the change to independent rear suspension. NASCAR's looking at a new engine package - around the same power levels that VASC is looking with the turbo V8's at as well (which is current levels that NASCAR has the speedways at with the tapered spacer). Connecting the dots, it shows the direction of both series becoming the same

-

here's some of the articles that added more fuel to the rumors from the NASCAR side:
https://www.speedcafe.com/2018/08/25/na ... spiration/
https://racer.com/2019/02/16/change-in- ... -the-wind/

the chassis rumors have been said around on other NASCAR related boards by reputable sources

Yeah that all makes sense.

I've heard about the turbo rumour, dropping power levels to the mid 500s would be a bit more then a minor change though when they're generally in the mid 600s at the moment.

This is exactly a reason that made me step away from following touring cars over the years - yes, even BTCC which has a horde of loyals here that will be jumping on me just because I have the guts to criticize this product. Like someone said above, nobody in V8 gave a damn when Volvo & Nissan were bringing up the rears but now that Holden can't keep up they have to change the rules? Spare me this bullshit.

All of these touring car series want a real competition and attract new manufacturers yet they want to basically make it a spec series racing. You can't have it both ways. And changing rules mid-season is a capital offense for me. I won't complain if McLaughlin wins the next 20 races on the spin just to rub it into these clowns! :x

And what if the new Holden enjoys a huge advantage whenever they bring it? Will they be punished by the series or will they lay it off which would then expose their consistency or lack thereof. We know the series has blown multiple calls on the penalty system for years and must be the least trust-worthy series in the world when it comes to consistency. The joke is not on the Mustang clampdown alone!

If either Ford or Holden left entirely that would basically kill the series even if there were other makes supporting it financially.

Either way the series has always been a parity formula since the end of Group A. If the technical department did its job properly pre-season then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Tcr Australia must be rubbing their hands right about now

Or Alan gow will move back home and fix things, he knows how to take an unloved, one manufacturer touring car series and make it a success.
And it is, despite off beat opinions about it being too much of a success you get here...

despite recent past with the 12 Hour & to a lesser extent Stadium Super Trucks, personally I think Supercars & TCR Australia would prefer to co-exist instead of competing against each other out-right. Both parties have way too much to loose, and if they go after Kelly / GRM for REC violations over TCR / S5000 programs, then how is Triple Eight (Asian GT program) / DJR (Penske) / Walkinshaw (Andretti & United Autosport) any different with international programs.

They would be crazy if they didn't learn from the past in the late 90's (the split Bathurst 1000 era with Channel 7 / Super Touring vs. Network 10 / V8's) + the splits for both open wheel & sports car racing in America.

Also if they had a split with CAMS over Shannon's Nationals having TCR + the live TV deal, they wouldn't be allowed to race at Bathurst under current NSW Sport regulations

This thing with the Mustangs is nothing new. Harkens back to the Group A days. Gotta keep Holden looking competitive.

international regions in Asian are off the table presently as the series is focusing on the home markets to refine the schedule (mainly with the summer season switch)

Winton starts tommorow.

Schedule: https://www.supercars.com/2019-truck-assist-winton-supersprint-schedule-results/

Only real news is that BJR's got an extra car again with Jack Smith returning in the #21.

Support categories are the Super3s, the SuperUtes (which have been lowered and given better tires in an attempt to make them look sportier), the Touring Car Masters, the Formula Fords and for I believe the first ever time at a Supercars event, the greatest racing category in Australia...

Aw yeah.

It is quite wet.

There was literally a collision between the leaders as they crossed the finish line in TCM earlier and they both went spinning wildly. One of them got launched into the air off a curb. That was insane.
