I love how everyone is getting paranoid about Swanick when he's blatantly going to be running around at the back on his own and the worst he can do is bring out the safety car by spinning on his own..

Also all the predictions I've read about the weekend sees Plato on pole by about 2 seconds due to the "equalisations" and Knockhill suiting the Chevys more :(

Well BBC weather seems to think it'll be raining for some of tomorrow. That might help. Can also hope that Neal hasn't forgotten about what happened at Snetterton. Payback into the Seat Curves? I mean Duffus. :p

Maybe even MacDowall can do something useful...

I SAW THAT!

Nawww, remember how much of a bromance these two have going on this year?
Even the post race interviews at Snet weren't as nasty as before.
Yeah they blamed each other, but in a kinda nice way....strange...

10 years since the last night racing in BTCC... shame that now BTCC has gone live on TV it would be impractical to bring it back.

Also, what are people's opinions of bringing back a kind of 'Class B'?

Class B would be fine, and it'd be better than what we have right now, which is 10 different rule sets and some cars so old that I can barely remember the last time they were a front running car.

It'd solve a lot of issues.

Do you mean Class B in the sense of having Production-spec cars run with the 'Touring Cars?'

I would hate to see the return of a class B. It would be pointless and just add to the confusion over rules, not just for teams but viewers. The fact that most teams are moving over the full NGTC (going by Tim Harvey's comments today) next year and we now have a large grid kind of negates the need for a Class B. It should be one class and one class only.

In effect, yes. I'm not saying that I'm against the current one-class system, as it works very well in my opinion. It's just that for so much of BTCC history there's been separate classes (although the system in the late 80s goes right over my head), and wondered if anyone missed it.

Was it really all that confusing when they had four classes?

I've just never understood the system, whether different classes had performance disparities or whatever.

I gotta admit I've not seen much footage from that era, so I'm only going on info I've read on the web about it.

It's really quite simple to understand. Cars were split amongst the classes by engine capacity, so generally the larger capacity cars were the fastest. Drivers earnt points based on their finishing position in class; their overall placing was meaningless.

It is more simple then what you have now lumping turbo/non-turbo/NGTC/BTC all in one 'class' and having people moan about parity.

Yup. Le Mans classes aren't confusing, and we'd just have 2. It'd help those running around at the back of the current grid with 10 year old cars, or horribly unsuitable cars, since it'd be cheaper and they'd have something to race for.

We do have a multi-class system right now. We just pretend we don't, whilst the main stories of the series every week are how nothing is balanced.

It's very unlikely British television channels would put BTCC night racing on live. And I think people (i.e. teams and drivers) got a bit fed up of it really.
