888 confirm they will return with MG's and new sponsors in 2015

No Plato at 888 then

If Plato returns, WSR and BMR seem to be likely destinations.

Also, Andy Jordan dosen't seem to be returning to Eurotech (not called Pirtek now, btw) with 888 seemingly like the possible destination there.

What has come over BTCC today? Some very odd news and announcements. Although 2015 should look somewhat different to what we've been used to over the past few years.

If Pirtek aren't staying with Eurotech, then they'll stick with Andrew. They're signed through to 2015.


I'd seen Tordoff>WSR rumoured, but I wasn't expecting MG to stay on! I thought it was Plato that put that deal together in the first place?

They decided that it was very much worth their while to stay in the championship so my understanding is that they did the deal independent of Plato - which is why he wont be back with 888. It does seem to mean that they have a couple of good drivers lined up and a good couple of sponsors.

Turk and Jordan?

Jordan was certainly in my reckoning. I could very much imagine a Pirtek liveried car. Honda seem to be retaining Neal and Shedden in 2 brand new type R's which if we remember Jordan stated that he would only stay in a Civic if he got 2015 equipment. Jordan dosen't appear to be getting that, thereby he is off somewhere. WSR seems unlikely as their line-up appears to be Tordoff/Turkington and Motorbase/BMR/WSR seem to be Plato. Who knows, it's already been an off-season where people have got drives where we least expect them, so I'm expecting the unexpected.

Plato and Menu team mates in BMR? Just for posterity, nothing else.

If Steve Neal was a smart man, I'd ask Matt to retire (and help run the team) and quickly hire Turks to partner Shedden.

Motorsport News mentions Andy Priaulx could be another WSR driver and Dick Bennett's confirmed that this is a possibility.

So does that mean some works backing for WSR then?

Not sure, but the story is really starting to move forward. It looks like we may have Priaulx on the grid in the 3 car team with Tordoff/Turkington/Priaulx with Nick Foster stepping in at Rockingham if needed. If we get Andy, that is another World Class driver in the field, but lets naturally take it with a pinch of salt at the minute

Honda are also expected to announce in the new year that they will race the new Type R Civic with Neal and Shedden remaining.

We MAY also see a 3rd Merc on the grid with Wix Racing running a second car which opens up a couple of possible destinations there.

I generally think this is one of the most interesting off-seasons in years.

Yes, it looks like it's going to be a mixed up entry list compared to what we've seen recently, but there have been so many average drivers announced that I'm not even remotely excited about them.

HSCC Super Touring will support the BTCC at Rockingham.

Nick Foster wont be back in 2015 - at least at WSR

United Autosports wont be back either.

That's a shame.
