I was hoping it would be someone younger but Depper isn't too shabby. He's definitely been more successful in one-make series than Jeff Smith.

I actually thought someone like a Matt Jackson or Aaron Smith might have got the drive. Going by Andy's tweet Deeper has the drive.

Shame it isn't one of the top drivers for the 2nd Pirtek seat, guess that's how team finances work though. I didn't think Jeff Smith was that bad, certainly made better use of a good car than Andy Neate or some of the 3rd Vauxhall drivers in years past.



That's still the 2013 car isn't it? Are Pirtek doing same as this year and buying a 2014 car from Honda/Dynamics or are they sticking with the 2013 car?

Yes, it's this year's car. I can't imagine why they'd change to a newer car though, since Eurotech have done their own development on the Civics this year. Why throw that away? Besides, that particular car has only just come into the ownership of Eurotech, Jeff Smith actually owned it beforehand.

Jeff Smith wasn't bad, but he was the only NGTC Honda driver not to win a race (let alone get anywhere near) in the 2 years of Dynamics and Eurotech running the latest Civic. Plus he tended to be a battering ram more often than not. Maybe not as much as Neate though.

I might be wrong, but wasn't he leading a reverse grid race this year until the last few laps until he made a slight mistake and lost the lead?

Yeh, Oulton Park.

Yeah you're right. But Andy Neate drove a great race during the final round at Brands Hatch in 2011 whereby he held a podium position until a late race mistake. Doesn't mean much in the grander scheme of things though.
