Newsham's hot property just now. Chuffed that Wood's getting looked at by teams other than having to fund his geriatric Vectra.

With Neate gone, it is very likely that MG will run someone with money, while possible running a 3rd car. Dave Newsham and James Thompson have been touted for the seats.

AFAIK, Thompson still has a contract with Lada.

Speaking of WTCC, how did Team Aon do? I haven't followed it at all this year.

Yeah, they were pretty terrible. Made virtually no progress all year, to the point where Rydell, Nykjaer & Turkington all finished ahead of Chilton & Nash in the championship despite only doing one round each. Even Fredy Barth outscored Chilton and he only did two rounds.

I love how he feels the need to state "AND THAT'S MY DECISION" almost as if he shouted it, unprompted, before the Autosport guy even asked him a question.

Might work like his SEAT outings then, Thompson competitive but not at every round and paydriver x at every round but not competitive

I'm so glad then that I got shouted down at Ten-Tenths, and more annoyingly, by Ben Constanduros on Twitter for daring to suggest that running competitively in the BTCC would be better for the team than running around the back of the "professional" WTCC.

Based on the fact that it probably costs a hell of a lot more to fly their cars around the world to finish outside the top 20 (of like 25 cars) and ITV4 probably gets comparatively more viewers than Eurosport (nationally, now ;) ) and they'd actually get on the coverage if they were in the BTCC, more to the point, I'm sure their "sponsors" would want the greater exposure of the BTCC too..

Assuming they have any that isn't Daddy Chilton's company anyway.

Daddy Chilton might be trying to take his AON brand international to get more exposure. He doesn't get the same bang for his buck with Max, pardon the pun...

A very good question. He is someone that used to race British bikes of some sort - I think British Supersports, but to be honest, I do not know him very well at all especially being from the background he is from. It is a serious entry though.

Tony Gilhams has been saying he intends to run anything up to 6 NGTC car's, as well as cars in the Clio Cup and VW Racing cup. As crazy as this sounds, someone has made a very good point of saying that he has actually delivered on what he has said previously and while it may not be 6 cars, it seems like he will be running at least 3. Gilham seems to be very good at making motorsport related decisions, so I wouldn't be surprised if we did see a load of NGTC cars from HARD.

Few more bits and bobs making the rounds:

Thorney are building new cars for next year with the first shell being built for testing at the end of Feb
Welch are in the process of building a second Proton either to run or sell.
Expect 3 NGTC BMW's next year
Motorbase have built one other NGTC chassis Focus to make a two car team next year. However, don't be surprised to see a third one by the first race next year
The second MG seat is likely to be taken up by a KX academy driver.
Pirtek are expected to resign Smith and Jordan, despite Smith saying he wanted to race in Superstars

Of course, there is still a long way to go till March

Tony Gilham has announced on FB that:

His NGTC cars are being rebuilt/built
Drivers will be announced
We should get a good idea of the colour scheme he is running and his new sponsors (always a good sign)

Something that is also interesting is that there is 'a lot of interest from overseas in the championship'.

It could be linked to this chap:

I don't see that being very successful. Converted road cars are rarely competitive.
