Why aren't they using the chicane? I thought it was supposed to be for the bikes to use?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

MotoGP have never used the chicane. But this was a a freak occurrence to a very normal looking accident. A sad day. RIP to Luis.

Looks like Salom was hit by the bike again after he went into the air fence.

They'll switch to the F1 layout for the remainder of the weekend

I thought the bike went in first. Either way, the two collided sickeningly. :(

Any word on why/how he went off like that? Didn't seem like a particularly high speed section. If the bike did go in first, I was wondering if maybe there was an issue with his throttle and he bailed out, then followed the bike straight into the barrier in a terrible stroke of luck.

Yes, looks like he fell off the bike on track. The bike hit the barriers first.

Warning fatal

The english localization requires the videopass to see the footage. I don't know why.

Here you should be able to see it without the videopass:

Switch to 720p to see it better. It's still difficult to see what happened, though.

Very sad indeed. He falls off before the corner. Very odd one.

It looks like he slid under the Tyre barrier, don't think he hit the bike. Damn asphalt run of, totally unnecessary in that corner. With gravel he would have bounced up and had a chance to survive imo

Terrible news. The accident didn't look nothing exceptional, but he was just unlucky to hit his bike (I think). Very unfortunate crash.

I think gravel could have saved his life, the tarmac did nothing to slow him down.

yup, this idiotic thing of removing gravel to make the tracks more forgiving, for mistakes, is foremost irresponsible/reckless

The pussified series doesn't even take that corner anymore(for almost a decade now), so there is no reason, whatsover, for letting tarmac there

Nothing will change though and the asphalt run offs will remain just as trendy as this will be just labeled as "bad luck" or "freak accident" kind of thing

PS: On Moto2's QLF, Morbidelli and Lowes went out on Campsa but the gravel there did it's job and held them way before the wall

Apparently Lorenzo was complaining that switching to the F1 circuit suits the Hondas better than his bike... He really doesn't miss an opportunity to act like a c*nt does he?
