More North West 200! https://www.bbc.com/sport/live/northern ... d/61277082 Gotta say, the BBC NI team is among the best in the world. Keith Huewen and Steve Parrish in the booth are exceptional commentators. |

Tragic news: all road racing in Northern Ireland, including the NW200, is to be cancelled. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ir ... QLE6H2LhB0 |

The reason is pretty obvious, sadly Quote: Quoted costs for public liability insurance for 2023 have tripled, amounting to more than £400,000.

Isle of Man got this weird kind of government where the crown isn't monarch per se, but is head of state, so it is not part of the UK or Great Britain, but still part of the commonwealth (it is weird, someone probably knows better than me). So what goes for Northern Ireland does not automatically translate to IoM. As for Ireland, no idea, it is an independant country (there's A LOT of history there, lol), but the main races of the scene is the ones in Ulster, so this is a huge blow for everything motorcycle racing on the British blow. |

Doesn't the IOM TT have a minimum number of races you have to do in the proceeding period. You can't just rock up and ride. |

Quote: Former racing champion Phillip McCallen said it was time spectators were charged to raise funds to cover insurance costs. "It's an absolute disaster," he told BBC Radio Ulster's Good Morning Ulster programme. "The general public have had free racing and free viewing for 50 years and some people expect that to continue but it can't. "You don't go to Windsor Park and get in for nothing, so you shouldn't have free spectating at the North West 200, for example. "It's about how we get that money from people into the organisation." That's pretty surprising. I thought it was like in rallying with at least some ticket-access-only spectating areas. |

Isle of Man is what’s known as an IAA (Independent Autonomous Authority), also known as a Crown dependency, in short it’s owned by the Crown but not ruled by and is self governing, they effectively run as their own country, collect and spend taxes as they see fit etc. Bit like Alderney or Jersey etc. The UK is responsible for their defence and represents them internationally (NATO, EU etc.) This is what Scotland will be if they vote for Independence. IAA is different from Devolved Administration (present how Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland is ruled). Northern Ireland has slightly more self governance power than Scotland and Wales, but not much. It’s all very complicated when you start looking into it in depth and came about in part to appease the IRA. |

NW200 begins today: Schedule: https://www.northwest200.org/practice-race-schedule/ Streaming: https://www.bbc.com/sport/northern-ireland No geoblock but does require a sign-in with an account (might have to input a faked UK postcode, I had an old account so I don't remember specifics). |

Works now. Supersport race got red flagged after half a lap, an incident at the roundabout, one fella has been treated by the medical staff (don't know who). Racing about to commence again! |

that was a very aggressive Supersport race! Great stuff, just kinda glad everyone got through that chaotic last lap! Great win by Davey Todd. |

I HATE red flags at road racing events. Hope no one is hurt. Seeley shows his worth though, untouchable. |
