A strange accident happened on the formation lap of the German 125cc championship's season opener at the Eurospeedway.
Netherlander Jordy Prins collided with the german Marvin Fritz on the backstraight and received severe head injuries. Prins was immediately airlifted to the Dresden University Hospital and inducted in an artificial coma due to bleedings and pressure in the head. It seems it's not life threatening but still...
Fritz broke his collarbone in the accident

yikes sounds definitely bad mate... any updates on either of the riders? any footage?

Marvin Fritz had successful surgery to his broken collarbone on monday after the race and is ok.
Prins remains in coma as the doctors weren't able to wake him up as it was previously planned.

No footage exists as the race director said, there were only reports by Fritz himself and eyewitnesses (=corner workers).
According to Fritz he was riding slowly on the right side of the backstraight during formation lap and turned his head several times to see whats going on behind him. A couple of riders passed him, Prins due to whatever reason crashed into him with high velocity.

Prins' bike broke in two pieces...

An update from yesterday says that Jordy was transported from Dresden hospital to the UMCG hospital @ Groningen, Holland on the 17th of may. He still remains in a kind of a coma. Doctors say he is out of a coma, but he hasn't been conscious since his accident. He is now on a waiting-list for a special clinic in Tilburg where they will try to awake him, but this will probably take 8 till 10 weeks before they can start with that.

Just 15 years old, man so sad. His adress for the moment is:
