I assume Morbidelli gets the call up.

Also this might actually save Petrucci at KTM if SRT will be now forced to buy out Fernandez's Tech 3 contract? Polish commentators said Petronas wants Fernandez more than Yamaha.

I thought Morbidelli is fed up with Yamaha too though.

Not surprised, but gutted anyway. After our annual ride down to the race was cancelled last year I was really hoping beyond hope that it'd find a way to happen this year.

At this rate they better not schedule any international motor races in Australia for 2022. I have zero faith that Australia will manage the vaccines by then.

100%

There's been huge backlash regarding the cancellation of both grand prix's. People are pissed - Melbourne calls itself the sporting capital of the world, which was well and truly justified until COVID-19, but we'll never get it back if we keep pulling shit like this.

We only had the Australian Open this year because Tennis players were willing to quarantine for 2 weeks before it, but players have said they won't do it again next year.

We need to get our shit sorted.

If Australian states (Victoria in particular) keep imposing strict lockdowns with less than 100 daily cases then it's a complete joke indeed.

Depends on what you think is an acceptable sacrifice for business as usual. Melbourne went to lockdown with about 10 daily new cases and we're now hovering around 20 a day as a result. Sydney resisted any restrictions until cases were about 50 a day, and now they're averaging about 120 new cases and 1 death daily. Try and run a major event with a crowd (generally what's needed to be profitable) and that will go way up.

Agreed that the simple solution here would be to just make a vaccine available and not fail at convincing people it's safe, which our embarrassment of a federal government seems incapable of doing.

It is by and large, very safe. My question is, do you not have any vaccine availability at all?

Perfectly summarised. Until this happened I couldn't ever imagine a scenario where I would be one of the vaccine hesitant, but this government has made it happen. I guess I should start reading the Herald Sun and rooting for Collingwood now.

Well, if it makes you feel better, the AZ and J&J shots are roughly the same. Wife and I got the J&J and we're under 40... Haven't turned into zombies or had any issues in 3+ months since getting stuck.

Good luck.

And hopefully Crutchlow on the Yamaha. :D :excited:

He's a bit of a wanker but tbh I missed seeing him.

Feels like when Schumacher announced his retirement at Monza in 2006. End of an era. Let's hope he can still get a podium in those remaining races.

I remember when I started watching the 500cc races. Of course there were great guys like Doohan, Barros, Biaggi, Crivile, Roberts but then they showed highlights from the lower formulas and this kid was trashing the field and making fun after every victory. Didn't knew he was going to make the sport bigger than it is

Suddenly Rossi became a fan favorite, even when he was defeated it was because who won had to be a bit further than a legend. A great character, a great rider, we're already missing his winning days, let's just enjoy his final rides

It's not a surprise but I'm pretty bummed we're not gonna see him race in Australia again, just the cherry on the shit sundae of Australian motorsport events the past 2 years.
