Nice race with only 12 riders after 1 corner.

But how we'll always remember this day...

That short season highlight clip at the end of the BBC coverage just gave me the chills.

Great race at the front but motogp really needs more bikes in the field. Hope that changes next year.

Ciao Marco!

First of all, reference to the last race in the extraordinary career of a great rider, and above all a great man...

LORIS CAPIROSSI
Image

About the race itself, great great shame for Ben Spies, what an awesome race by him. He was cool and fast enough to stay with the two clearly faster Hondas (as it was shown every lap on the start finish straight, and specially when Stoner passed him on those last few meters) of Dovisiozo and Pedrosa (fighting not only for 2nd in the race but for 3rd place in the championship) without taking any unnecessary risks, and attack them when time was right. Then as conditions got worse he managed to keep up a good pace, cath and pass Stoner, but in the end nothing he could do about that Honda on a straight line.... Untill it started raining, Stoner once again proving that when nothing strange happens he just is in a class of his own. Bad luck for Rossi, he once again was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Oh, and congratulations to Dovi for beating Dani Pedrosa in the championship, the latter just proving today that he has had his time at Repsol Honda, he has been given many opportunities but that's too much already... He's good, but just when he's racing alone, put him in a tight battle with some other rider and he loses... That 's not what you expect from someone which was once considered the next great champion of MotoGP. To be honest I think he will never be it. I hope Dovi can stay with the team, Dani has been there for too long without delivering anything special, unlike Hayden and Stoner. That said, Andrea hasn't proved anyhting special as well, and if he stays with the team for 2012 but with the same kind of performances compared to Stoner, he better watch out for Marc Marquez taking his place in 2013...

Great race, and a nice way to finish the season. I thought Spies had it in the bag coming out of the last corner

There have been some great races in the lower classes but MotoGP tended to be the same sort of order. And it was good for the first 5 odd laps then just spreading out.

That is a great response by Ann Neal. But who is the friend she speaks of who died 20 years ago? I can only think of Paul Warwick.

I think she means him? She says he was "only 22", exactly the age of Warwick

And Derrick was in F1 at the time.

It's certainly Paul she's referring to.
