Read this horrible opinion piece in my local paper this morning, she's not like the woman who had a go at IndyCar despite never having seen it, but she is just as fucking clueless

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/opinion/rac ... 6176644011

i've put her in her place with the following comment:

This is just a clueless article. Can you imagine how boring it is a race run with 50cv engines car going at 50mph round a track? And it would be boring cause anyone of us would be able to drive in that race cause there is not skill involved. The excitement comes from the speed and unfortunately the more is the speed the more is the risk. Those are the two sides of the same medal. It's like to say that because men likes to have as much sex as they can and having a lot of sex can cause sexual diseases, the reason why men loves to watch porn is the possibilty that actors contract sexual diseases. You see how stupid that sounds?
Every people related to motorsports if asked, would tell you that crashes are part of the game, and that's part of the game cause otherwise it would not require skill, and with no skill involved that would be a pointless sport.
what you wrote is only just what a clueless jurnalist like you would think and that's sad that a journalist is allowed to speak about something she doesnt know just because of her work. In my country we say that if you have nothing intelligent to say it's better to stay silent, specially when someone's death is involved. thank you

i just wonder if they are brave enough to publish it, let's wait and see

That article is just, well, hilarious. Yes, Motorsport is dangerous and we know that. But it doesn't mean no-one should be bothered when it strikes back so cruelly.

Felt like commenting on it:

Quote:
Racing is dangerous, that is a fact. But it's not because of that that most people go and watch racing. They go because they love cars or bikes and the people who race them. I can only assume you're the kind of woman who looks at people with a funny face when someone says they are a car/bike enthusiast.

Race fans are a very specific breed. Yes, they know about the dangers of the sport and they know about the people that have died in the past, but all that goes to the back of your head when the machines start rolling. When someone is killed, it is very shocking, for everyone. It's called being "human".

Race fans aren't heartless, very much the contrary. Many race fans are addicted to the sport and can't live without it and it's one of the few things that makes them truly happy.

If you can't understand that, you shouldn't try to talk about things you don't like, because all you'll do is give the ignorant's opinion.

The problem we face in all sorts of motorsport is going to countries that have no racing history at all, those guys only flag a race or two each year, at Korea the F1 race was the first race since last years F1...
They have to reconsider the venues they go to - when I think about the F1 mechanics in Korea sleeping in brothels I don't want to know what kind of hospital you're transferred to in case...
At the Nurburgring minor and "standard" injuries are treated in the Adenau hospital which is a small local hospital at the Nordschleife whilst serious injured people are airlifted to the near-by (50km) Coblence Military Hospital which is one of the best hospitals in Germany (military and civilian)

What I don't understand is why MotoGP has a fancy BMW doing a lap before formation lap, but no quick reaction medical car like F1 has. Give them a BMW M5 station wagon, race prep it and put a retired racing car driver in and place Dr. Costa in it.
It's also a joke that the ambulance travels on the infield through a bumpy grassy field

Medical car is not an "ambulance", that's the problem !

50.000 people present, some at the stadium, some at the misano circuit, cause the village of coriano is too small for all of them. 50.000 for a 24 year old guy, that should show how big he is
