Looking at these pictures it shows the marshalls first started to remove the bikes and just put some protection around Marco. After that, even after the red flag was waved, they removed him from the asphalt before even checking on him I think.

In the photo were it looks like they have dropped him you can see 2 guys in a yellow suit. I think the other marshalls are not allowed to assist on an injured driver in any way so they focus on the bikes instead. Can be a good thing, if you make sure medical personell can be at the scene faster than those guys, not the other way around. First the rider for gods sake...

these protection things remind me somehow of those straw bales used in the 70ies and 80ies. They just seem to act the same way...

And in this picture, as it looks like they have put down the stretcher and are trying to put Marco back on the stretcher again, is that his father on that scooter down right? :( I hope not, must have been an awfull thing for him to actually see the crash happen and looking at how they handled the situation afterwards... :(

I didn't see it, but where did they carry him? I thought the race as red flagged, so why not treat him on the track and wait for the ambulance?

He was taken into the infield and then into an ambulance from there. I've never seen an ambulance on track at a MotoGP event - they seem to prefer to stretcher the rider off track and then treat them there.

With Marco's injuries I don't think any treatment would have made a difference, but if as the reports suggest his heart had already arrested then getting him into an ambulance as soon as possible would have been the priority, regardless of any neck or spinal injuries.

I'm going to bed now, and I'm sure its gonna haunt me. I'm sorry guys if I have posted too much there and too many useless messages, but there was lot of emotion. I didn't follow Indycar so I wasn't so "involved" when Dan Wheldon died, but there in Moto GP its different for me so please sorry if I annoyed you with my messages, it helped me to "clean" my emotions. Thank you for understanding and once again, thoughts are with Marco's family, friends and fans. Peace guys, peace :(

,

I tried to make the best out of the google translation of Dr. Costa's letter. I'm sure much meaning is lost when it's translated to English (especially with software) but still, very touching...

Rest in peace Marco.

Am I an idiot for thinking it was a simple front end lose, but he had just enough grip for the bike to hold on (and thus swing him across the track due to him holding on and the angle he was at)?

Because on another forum people are spurting crap about him having a heart attack causing him to swing back across the track or that he was mysteriously injured before impact or that his leg got caught and so forth. To me it's no different to Edwards save earlier in the year, however edwards was lucky enough to stand the bike back up quicker than Marco would have been able to.

Funny that people on my local forum have also raised the question whether he was conscious or not before he lost control. Quite simply, these people don't watch the races very often so don't know what it takes to ride these bikes. Don't need to read too much into them... I think you're fairly right there; he lost the front end, regained grip but tried to hold on with the hope of not crashing, but as the bike shot back across the racing line he was just a passenger...

I'm sure they have telemetry that will eventually give them a good idea. The only other plausible (to me) explanation to the crash is that when the bike low-sided it trapped his hand on the throttle with it still open. I think he was still trying to hold onto it because that's who he was - a racer who wouldn't give up until the very last.

Terribly sad. Much like last week, his loss will leave a huge void in the sport.

Can't really blame them tbh. your biggest sporting achievement in decades compared to the death of some motorbike racer 90% of NZ would never have even heard of.

Sometimes it's better they don't report it, rather than they reporting it while not knowing a shit of what happened...

I consider it disrespectful, plus 90% of the news was dedicated to rugby

SIC was better day after day, I'm sad for his friend Rossi who should be so sick to thinking about this dramatic crash.

Rest in Peace Marco !
