Hopefully it's about time Kawasaki can be up the front on a regular basis. Hasn't happened in a long time.

oh and motogp will have a maximum of 17 bikes total next year, lmao

How do you know that's the maximum? Any ideas why MotoGP's getting so few entrants?

Know it's probably outside your area, but any chance of BBC going back to WSBK for a year, MotoGP really not looking good this year...

The current MotoGP entry list for 2011 has all the possible entries and still only adds up to 17. That's including the new team with Karel Abraham, and I don't see any new teams announcing entries before next season begins. I think it's partly due to all the restrictions on testing and attempts to reduce costs. By banning unofficial testing, they've basically given any new teams no time at all to get used to a bike, while all the works teams already have a ton of data to work from. Plus with Moto2 being so much more balanced and competitive it seems like the obvious choice for a new squad getting into Grand Prix.

I don't see BBC covering WSB again any time soon, they only really picked up World and British Superbikes because they'd lost most of their other motorsport rights and those two were the next biggest series available. As soon as they got MotoGP again the superbikes were dropped. Their MotoGP contract extends to 2013 anyway and they'll want to stick with the high-profile series.

Robbie Rolfo has just been confirmed with Pedercini.

Also the full calendar was released, the Italian TBA date is Imola.

Latest rumour is that Ten Kate Honda's main sponsor for WSB this year will be Castrol. Their WSS team will still be sponsored by Hannspree though.

I really hope this is true. And I also hope that the livery will have some resemblance with the old Castrol liveries. Not some new flashy 'Nascar2011' design.

Yeah they all look kinda the same Aprillia Alitalia, Ten Kate Castrol and now this one. All got White/Green/Red in their scheme.

Day 1 of testing at Portimao woo

Jonathan Rea stood at the top of the time sheets for most of the day, but Jakub Smrz on the new Liberty-Effenbert Ducati knocked him out of first place with just a few minutes to go. Yamaha and BMW struggled during the first session and early parts of the second session, with both teams occupying the bottom 4 places, but newcomer Eugene Laverty got into his stride and finished up 3rd overall. Tom Sykes was impressive on the new Kawasaki ZX-10R, setting a time only a quarter of a second slower than Smrz to put him in 4th, while his team-mate Joan Lascorz was 10th. The rest of the newcomers to the series are still getting accustomed to their new machines, expect more from them in tomorrow's second test.
