Hearing some concerning things about the track this weekend. especially with regards to tires. Hearing there's a lot of fear we may have a repeat of Indy 08.

Oh boy, goodyear should know better that you don't mess with new paved tracks. Very excited for this one as I love unique tracks and racing styles (inside the Nascar schedule itself). Can't get better than this one.

Was channel surfing earlier and noticed they were actually having a real discussion on NASCAR America...with actual substance and content!

They were talking about the new surface at KY and the recent decision to switch to a harder tire. Almirola said it's actually the same compound they run at Talladega, and that we should probably expect to see some 2-tire and fuel-only pit stops.

I get that a new surface is always going to present at least a mild tire debacle but it's going to be really annoying if the lower DF package is judged too heavily this weekend because the tire/surface fucks with everything.

That's what I'm afraid of. Michigan was not as good as it could've been as the tyres were on the safe side by a wide margin but Kentucky was supposed to have better tyres with more falloff but leave it to Goodyear to get it wrong again and go conservative again.

That or he knocked his head when they both went to the ground.

We're getting a nasty storm right now in Louisville. It's really thundering out there.

They used a 'special curing' on the pavement to try and make it like the tarmac had been laid for 5 years.

Turn 1-2 has also had the banking increased to 17° (from 14°) that's why they're on it more than in turn 3/4 which has only been repaved.

Something makes me feel it'll be a wreckfest like Kansas was the 1st race at Kansas after it was repaved and banking increased.

Has there been a lot of wrecks today? Seen a tweet from K&N driver Noah Gragson that mentioned something about "Get out the backup!" said every Xfinity driver today... or something to that effect.

Not really. Gaughan and Brandon Jones had minor wall contact in Xfinity practice. Kahne bounced off the wall in Cup practice.
