"But still no major wreck..."

"nvm"

That was actually my first time going to Talladega other than the Busch race the day before. The flooding was so bad that weekend.

Guess my first taste of Talladega was the 1994 Diehard 500, not a particularly memorable race. The same race one year later with Schrader flipping was much better.

I have vague memories of Waltrip's big tumble at the 1991 Firecracker 400.

This will be tricky, I have a half day at work Monday so I'll be home around 12:15ish.

Fine with me and I guess most UK people, It'll just turn SOCHIDEGA into merely MOTORSTVRACEDAYDEGA since it's a public holiday (May Day Bank Holiday)

Good timing NASCAR, even if I'll miss ThruxtonDEGA or whatever it used to be.

My earliest Dega memory was Mahk winning the caution free race in 1997.

I'll see the '02 Aaron's 312 and raise with the '95 Hummingbird Fishfinder 500K.

2 flips (one a good old fashioned blow-over) and an all day wreck fest.

EDIT:

I've got vacation time I need to use anyways, might as well burn a possible day for DEGA.

My earliest Dega memory was Dick Trickle drilling another driver in the side, during a Busch series race in the 90s. But I couldn't find anything on youtube so maybe I imagined it...

And a photo finish with the #44 slim jim car. Maybe it was the same race?

I remember that Trickle accident. Wasn't it when he was driving the 64 car?

That was the 2000 Busch race. Randy Lajoie got turned on the apron, when he came back up he was drilled in the drivers door by Dick Trickle (believe Lajoie was knocked out for a brief time), Trickle was driving the #5 by that time for Jimmy Spencer

The photo finish you remember was from the Busch race the previous year.
