I'm really looking forward to seeing the Homestead race next year, with the aero-package.

Kyle Busch is a true champion of the new rules format. Just about all that wouldn't happen otherwise.

Funny thing is, I always wanted to see him a champion because he was the fast but inconsistent driver and that 2008 disaster and following years. Was so frustrating that I wanted so much to see this happening. Not that I'm his fan, but I can help pulling for whoever wants a win so much. And I'm not feeling nice now. I probably wanted to see him make previous format withouth issues. Or maybe, doing this one in the spotlights. Not like and underdog who suddenly wins at the end...
This was just so no Kyle Busch.... I wonder if he was just racing by the rules after winning 4 of 5 races. And, if Logano was a contender, how he would've performed against Busch.

I'm really feeling bad probably because Logano wasn't here after winning those 3. I was a Kenseth fan. Now, I may still like seeing him win, specially when he does that magic trick of staying out and getting the lead and suddenly get fast (though I wonder if this will still work with the new package). But now, I'm really dying to see him trown out of the track while going for the championship and also for a big one like the Brickyard. Funny that of all 4 guys on that team, Kenseth is the bad guy now. :o

Last year it also was frustrating how Gordon didn't win, but Harvick winning was still a nice story (after X times he finally got to be the fastest car and actually close the deal again). Also was great to see how Penske got better. And Gordon dominating again. And I was used to be frustrated whenever I was pulling to see him win. Man, ever since 05, he was the fast car but lost how many times? And that Texas races was the perfect storm - a quiet calm day on the lead who gets one caution with 50 to go and then just one caution after the other, a never-ending nightmare, and when you think he would close the deal it all goes wrong, a what a bang it was. I will never forget that race. Best ever, and the sum of why I love Nascar - the motorsport category where the fastest car has the biggest chance of not winning. It's always good drama when this happens. And when the fastest win, I still feel great and relieved to see that he managed to survive the things that could've gone wrong.

Though, the championship should be called Nascar main series. This new format can be compared to the previous but in one way... That Nascar is about making a good show, they just don't know who their audience should be like.

Anyway, screw the championship, at least people will keep racing for winning each weekend. The plate tracks are better than ever with this pack and if we have what we had at Darlington at each track, I'm really happy.

Has anyone calculated what the championship would be like without the chase yet?

Always interesting

Harvick by a margin over Logano. Kyle would barely scratch the top 20.

But how about avg points per race?

Anyway, this is really a nonsense with the new format. They really don't care about points after winning.

I really wanted to see how it would be with them going for it on the classic format.

Ehh. I'm okay with Kyle winning the title (surprisingly). Yeah, he missed 11 races, but his team didn't, and the way they ran (especially once Kyle came back) was remarkable. If you ask me, Kyle accomplished just as much in the short time he was in the car as anyone else did.

He also didn't have to wreck the damn field at Talladega to move to the next round.

Nah, Kyle Busch won this one with dignity, and I don't mind seeing that - crazy Chase rules be damned. I think having that kid has changed him quite a bit, as it did Harvick.

Shit race though. Typical of this rules package, however.

And yeah, I am kinda disappointed Gordon didn't win it all. It was your typical Jeff Gordon kind of race though, wasn't it? I mean, the guy could always take a 15th-20th place car, complain about it all night, and still finish 6th with it. Not only will I miss seeing him do shit like that, but I sincerely miss the days when doing that actually meant something worthwhile, in the grand scheme of things. Now it's win-win-win, and it has changed the fabric of the sport quite a bit.

Quite a career to look back on, though... thank goodness for YouTube.

Anyway, I greatly look forward to seeing the 2016 rules in action. :)

That really summed it up well. I can barely remember anything at all about this season. Nothing particularly interesting happened in any of the races, and the one good race (Darlington) had a horrible blue balls finish thanks to NASCAR's love of throwing a late caution. This might be the most forgettable season I've ever experienced.

I can't even remember Sonoma and Watkins Glen.

That's where Keselowski and Ambrose slid around on oil on the last lap and Allmendinger won, right?

I'm not following nascar since a while, but as an 'european' the only thing that matters is the chase. Will a next guy also gets an exemption?

You can have a better season then a chase contender and still not be champion by missing the chase and winning all the chase races.

Entertainment is one thing, it should still make sense as a competition....

that Busch kid should be very thankful to Kenseth, as he was one the causes of the chase format and then gave a big help by taking Logano out

anyway, it was deserved, he won some races, was consistent, but nascar reached the lowest point in their history

I've gotten to the point where I just watch each race individually and don't pay too much attention to the championship now.

For the record, Busch's average finish was still below Logano and Harvick. If he had similar runs in the 11 races he missed, he would have ended up third in the points standings, about 65 points off the lead.

And yes, this is easily the worst season I have ever watched. It got to the point where I missed several races and didn't even care.

Yeaa, missed a fair few races and wasn't bothered.

I'm hoping that the new package makes the racing better but there's that little voice that reminds me it's NASCAR, they always find a way to screw up.

Plus with Gordon retired, I don't currently have a driver to root for :(

Kyle Busch is the first driver to win a Cup championship after missing one or more races since Richard Petty in 1971, so it goes without saying no one has ever missed over 11 races (or more than 30% of the season) and still won a title. Kyle also got Toyota their first Cup championship.

It's certainly interesting when you compare it to Joe Weatherly's championship run in 1963.
