That crash involving the leaders was pretty brutal.

I know I've posted this race a couple times before, but uh NASCAR actually uploaded a small highlight reel alongside a interview with Bobby Allison about the race

Nearly 20 years later, and everything about this finish still gives me goosebumps. Bestwick's "lessons learned from his father" line; Waltrip getting his moment to shine after getting overshadowed by the events of February; Dale and Mikey embracing in front the huge throng of crewmen surrounding them; all of it in front of a crowd going completely mental for every moment.

I remember that Bestwick line and Bill Weber's relentless "this win is all about your dead dad" victory lane interview being extremely cringey. For like 2 years after Dale's death Jr couldn't have an interview without being asked about it, and he clearly wanted to step out of Sr's shadow and establish his own presence in the sport.

My memories of this race were being there live in person and after Junior crossing the line having two very drunk women who I had never met hugging and groping me and crying. Good times!
