I hate sounding like a broken record, but I love the way early 00's plate racing sounded.

Still gives me goosebumps just remembering it. One of the best things to ever happen to Nascar.

Found a user who has posted NASCAR Sportsman highlights (the series that ran '89-'95) on YouTube in addition to a few full races. Not sure if some of the stuff has already been posted here. This particular race tore up a bunch of cars.

The track looks different on this version, more brighter, must be new concrete. Anyway, another classic race with amazing quality. First time seeing the cars from 94/95 in HQ, the ones that made the first Nascar Racing game. Really great to see some paints in HDef.

Also, they dried up the race track but the pit road were still VERY wet for at least the first 100 laps, haven't watched the rest. And at 23:00 mark you can see the restart, with the camera from the pit road, where you can see a LOT of rain coming down, and they're just going back to green like it was nothing.

At 32min when showing Sheperd spin also a lot of rain.

At 1h29 a very unique onboard.

That race in particular had a delayed start because of rain, largely stemming from the remnants of a hurricane from a day prior or two.

Yeah, it looked normal near the end. The cameras were adjusted to that amount of brightness. Still, unique atmosphere at that race start.

1970s racing, where the TV broadcast cuts in with 100 laps already in the books, the leader already a lap ahead of everyone but 2nd place, no overtaking is caught by the cameras, they're lucky to half catch the one thing that happened, and I think still to this day no-one is sure who won. Even though 2 cars are on the lead lap they got them confused somehow during a pit stop

A great watch

Lol believe it or not there was 32 lead changes in that race according to the records. They pretty much all occurred in the first half of the race, the part which they didn't show anything of on the broadcast.

And the commentary kinda sucked. Benny Parsons finished a lap down in 4th and was running with the leaders for a lot of it but they never even mentioned him. It's also a good thing that we've moved past the majority of the race being shown from two cameras on top of the grandstands.

I like how after his incident, Buddy Baker collapses to the ground with a bad leg, has to force himself up to look for an ambulance or any sort of medical vehicle, then just says "fuck it" and hitches a ride in a Ryder rent-a-van with the leg propped out the side window.

Great marshaling indeed.

BTW I noticed FS1 has been airing old rare BGN races the last few Saturday mornings. They had an old Bristol race from '85 last week.
