Since it wasn't fatal, I didn't bother with a warning. My bad.

You see him hitting the wall and think, 'oh, it's like Mark Martin at Dega...', then he keeps going and omg!

Someone managed to capture the wreck in photos. Proper warning is given this time.

I was just thinkin, this crash looked more fatal than most fatal crashes. Specially since I was watching with the sound off. It looks like a Hollywood scene. But it happens, we almost never use those anymore. Specially with several serious crashes in a 15min video every week. How many rally fatalities every year?

Most of the sport has grown much safer. But in a way, we are way more desensitized. Also, all serious crashes are known and well watched. Until this wild one appears from out of nowhere.

Was perusing random races on NASCAR Classics, and I noticed the '99 MBNA Platinum 400 from Dover has no commentary; just natural sounds.

So weird, even the winner's interview is so muted it sounds like it was caught by trackside mics. It's like the NASCAR race version of a music video shred.

A little bit of footage of Tommy Irwin crashing into Lake Lloyd at Daytona in 1960 has emerged (1:00), not that you can see much since it's from the other side of the track. I think this was one of the only times someone went into the lake aside from Dave Stacy in the Dash series in the 90s.

NASCAR Classics uploaded the remaining Daytona 500's missing from the official site ('82-84, '86-87); so every 500 - minus '01 for obvious reasons - is now accounted for in some capacity.

Little nugget I came across - on the last lap of the 1990 Die Hard 500, if you were watching CBS you'd have seen the yellow and chequers were both shown, but you wouldn't have any idea that it was due to Jimmy Spencer barrel rolling down the backstretch, then landing on his wheels and driving the car back around to take the flag. MRN called it much better and that is captured here along with a few photos.
