The usual NASCAR brown nosing includes claiming fake debris cautions are for the safety of the drivers.

I said this a few times on Twitter, but I DID see the debris that caused the lap 199 caution. If I had PVR, I'd rewind that shit, take a screenshot and show it here, but I don't. :(

I saw it from the wall-mounted camera coming out of turn 4, barely in the groove (but it was definitely in a spot it could get hit), shiny and silver, and pointy-looking. I guess we'll just have to wait until NASCAR posts the race to YouTube for me to see it again.

As for the caution when Kenseth was leading, I'm not so sure - I believe they said it ended up on Allmendinger's grill, but if that's the case, isn't the debris is no longer a problem? They had engine issues all day anyway, so worst case scenario, they overheat and blow up and cause a caution a little bit later on. Not sure if the yellow was warranted there, but I would say it certainly was on lap 199.

Way out of the groove though. Pretty sure they would have stayed green if it would have been anyone else in the lead.

But this is the series that'll bring out the caution for a bit of tape on the apron.

They certainly didn't need to call the caution with 1.5 laps to go. It's just funny they thew the caution then. Why not throw it after Kurt took the white flag? Why that exact moment? Just seems fishy.

Kurt is evidently already at Kevin's level in terms of performance, and it's just a matter of time before he wins one. Not sure how it would benefit NASCAR to "delay" him winning so soon after his return, VS. him winning next week (which could very well happen)... so, if it happens next week while he's leading, I agree, it's fishy. If it happens anywhere down the road again when he's leading, it's fishy. I'm not convinced about yesterday, however.

I saw the debris on that caution with 2 to go, it's quite possible it'd be in the groove, since people were running on the apron in 3/4.

Obviously biased, but I was more annoyed with the caution when Kenseth was leading, which we never saw.. as it was leading up to a possibly interesting fuel mileage finish, with 2 obviously faster cars behind him.. only to break an axle leaving the pits.

Yeah, I enjoy fuel mileage races as well, and was bummed out about that yellow for sure. They did show the debris on Allmendinger's grill and said that was the cause for the yellow, but like I say, if he picked it up, wouldn't it be a non-issue at that point?

I certainly agree that that particular caution was weird.

It could have been picked up by AJ after the caution flew. But I get what you're saying.

I suppose, yeah. In the shot they showed, AJ was bouncing down that backstretch quite a bit, which doesn't happen at pace speeds... he could have been slowing down for the yellow I guess, but he was still going at a pretty good clip when they showed the debris on his nose.

Wasn't that the second caution Dinger ended up with debris on his car or did I miss that it happened a second time?

Oh and apparently the overnight rating was 2.8, which is down from 4.0 last year.

Never been so happy to see a Ford win. Fuck you Krut

NASCAR must be letting Patrica Driscoll run race control in exchange for Kurt's reinstatement.

Sometimes luck is on your side, sometimes it's not. If that wheel didn't break off when it did at Homestead in 2004, Kurt wouldn't have "Champion" anywhere near his name. There's always next week.

He wouldn't but Kurt is definitely in the same league talent wise as the best that's ever been. Better than many that do have the title.

Sometimes I think Kurt's talent is underappreciated...but that's RIDICULOUS, lol.

I always thought Kurt's talent was over-valued. Kurt drove for Roush at the peak of their performance and Penske, who has always been competitive. His stint at SHR has been underwhelming.

Post subject:  Re: Sprint Cup/Xfinity @ Fontana

Idk, I don't think Penske was that great mid to late 2000's. They weren't really considered in the same group with the top teams until the last year or 2 with Dodge and definitely with Ford. And he's only been at SHR for a year so. I mean yeah, he got that win but really was just like the 14 and 10. But I think Tony Gibson is a much better CC from him that Knost was.

Either way, we have to see how well he runs all year, 2 races of running well is too small of a sample in my opinion and I'm a Kurt fan.

It's like back then Penske didn't take NASCAR as seriously as their open wheel stuff and Ford focused on Roush. Now Penske's moved his facility south and also put more emphasis on their NASCAR program and Ford's realized Roush has been one brick short of a load for awhile.
