Capping off the west coast swing. Will the not-so-shitty Auto Club Speedway finally light a fire on what's so far been a dull season?

If this track doesn't provide racing like it has the last few years, there's no hope.

It really is remarkable how times do change when it comes to opinions of Auto Club. Once so hated, now looked upon as a savior for dull racing.

It took 14 years for the track to produce good races. Its scary how long these repaved tracks will take.

With this pavement, the key is who has lost less mechanical grip, cant wait to see a race on a new paved fast track without the front splitter.

Probably the Last race I'm gonna take time to watch live till Talladega. Got too much stuff going on to watch these snooze fest races. Fontana. Please produce some epic racing.

Also expect a stellar run from David Ragan as the 18 has won the last two races there...yea right.

I don't think the good racing is anything to do with the track surface, although I could be wrong.

I think it's more to do with the Gen 6 car. The dependence on clean air makes has made the racing terrible on most of the circuits between 1 and 2 miles, but that doesn't matter so much here. You can run so many different lines in the wide corners, keeping the nose in clean air and not losing front downforce.

Is the racing at Fontana better than it was in the early 2000s? Maybe, but it's more likely that the racing at other circuits has just gone really downhill.

On the other hand, the groove at Fontana has widened out significantly over the years, especially as it has gotten bumpier and bumpier. Back when it was still relatively new, you had to run the bottom to go fast. So yes, it's partially just because it's a really wide track that you can run multiple lines. But it's also because the track has finally gotten worn out and bumpy and slick that the multiple lines are really an option at all.

As posted in the RDT, Vickers has another blood clot and is out. Brett Moffitt drives the #55.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Excellent! The kid really has impressed me over the last couple years. Doesn't seem to have the uber-douche qualities of his cousin, either.

Bliss just blew up in turn 2 and barely held it off the wall...then Reed, Larson, and Barrett all slid through it. Larson slapped the wall and needs a backup.

Xfinity practice, by the way.
