lol, nice one oh sage of sages. Care to venture a guess how many tires will be on his car this weekend?

Anywho, he certainly doesn't seem like a person in the right frame of mind to be racing, but I guess that was probably just a lot of nerves, having been completely silent for almost 3 weeks while the rest of the world has been free to discuss it from any and every angle they choose.

Nah, man, it's not rocket surgery. The state he was in as he spoke was just about what I expected. Mentally, he's a long way from the Tony of old... but again, we knew that would happen, of course.

Couldn't watch. Anything out of the expected? Did he read something or speak openly?

He actually said "I" instead of "We" referring to himself.

He just read a statement - he spoke of the difficulty he's had in dealing with this whole situation emotionally, how it pales in comparison to what the Ward family is going through, and how the support from the NASCAR community has been overwhelming. Getting back in the car will be like therapy for him, pretty much.

Well for him, the Ward family and the fan community I'm glad that is over and let's go racing. I hope all the reporters and journalist types respect his position and don't pry for answers as the weekend continues.

I'm no Tony fan but I do feel for the guy.

That surprises me as well. I understand the situation and I really feel for Tony but he chose to step out of the car. It wasn't like it was 1 race either.

Regardless of the situation, NASCAR is making it possible for the 2014 SEASON champion to be someone who didn't even compete in 3 races.

It's the EIRI moment of 2014.

Considering that they handed Gordon a Chase spot after the Richmond debacle last year, I expected NASCAR to do something like that.

I wonder if they have procedures in place to "advance" someone to the next chase round if one of the EIRI moments happens during the actual chase.

Maybe JJ will have a tummy ache and have to sit out a race or something.

Hamlin is already in the chase despite missing a race and loosing almost nearly a race worth of points.

Hamlin qualified the car at California. He met the requirements by doing so. No comparison.

Nothing personal, but: How come nobody can spell "lose" or "losing" correctly these days? Space pods taking over or WTF?

Welcome to the social media era of the Internet. Where spellchecking is optional.

LOL it's a bit more than that, both are words so spell checkers don't autocorrect loose to lose, because you're spelling loose correctly, it just means something slightly differently to lose.

My first computer had a grammar check built into it, but you don't see them nowadays, that's what is needed to fix this, or people should have listened in their English lessons (that's why we had two of them, grammar and literature to cover both aspects of the language).

Is it race time yet?
