Well, that was a race that certainly happened.

Remember when tracks like Atlanta and Texas were known for photo finishes?

I wonder what would happen if they gave the speedway cars the superspeedway spoiler and vice versa.

What the fuck consists of a "perfect driver rating?" I've never even heard of such a stupid fucking statistic.

Parker Kligerman finished 18th. Imagine if he was in a real car.

Yeah I was extremely impressed by that. He finished ahead of several bigger teams with bigger names in the seats.

AKA NFL fans whose alternative option doesn't look viable.

They tested that before the season started and it was worse in traffic than the current spoiler.

The problem starts at the front due to it needing clean air to be sealed off or else aero push. The big spoiler is just a band-aid to try and increase overall downforce. Smaller spoiler reduces the effectiveness of that band-aid and makes the problem worse.

NASCAR refuses to acknowledge these issues, instead they make the cars faster.

and slap on skirts in the hope it will cure the aero push problem.

I often wonder whether the people that are in charge are just genuinely that thick, or whether there is some other thing going on because it is just so dam easy in theory to cure the overall aero push problem without breaking the entire package, the cars were able to do 200mph before they put the dam splitter and aero package on the front and go round the corner perfectly fine, so just cut the dam thing off, put a valance on there and be done with it, it won't take long for the teams to pull out the old setups and get back to the pace. Giving the cars more downforce (whether that is by a bigger spoiler or doing away with the ride height rule) is never going to fix the problem all the time you rely on the nose to create the downforce.

Speaking of skirts, did anyone catch what Matt Kenseth said about Jimmie's left side skirt early on in the race? He said he noticed his was "kicked out" in front of the left rear tire. I went back and watched some of the race, and although it wasn't kicked out extremely far, it was definately kicked out more that anyone elses car. It was enough for Matt to actually notice it and report it to his crew. They mentioned it on the MRN broadcast, not sure about TV though....

Even if he does, they'll just try to hype it up for next year.

"Will Jimmie Johnson join the ranks of Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt as the greatest drivers of all time?"

Johnson, Knaus and that particular Hendrick team are by far the best combination in the last 20 years. Regardless of my personal dislike of them, and also despite the constant fiddling with the rules, cars, points by NASCAR, it is very hard to deny just how good they are.

Makes me wonder what might have been if Evernham had stayed with Gordon.
