I don't think most of today's fans would have enjoyed that stuff as much as they think they would.

Way too easy to pass in the trucks and they wreck a ton. The normal advantage he would have in a truck race is massively reduced this week for those two reasons.

Might try to catch both races this weekend. Depends on how busy I am.

Also be prepared for yellow flag finishes. That and the yellow line rule have pretty much ruined the quality of plate races.

Yellow flag finishes were fine, it's the freeze the field/overtime bullshit that has ruined plate races and the legitimacy of NASCAR in general.

I'll gladly take a pass on football for the Cup race (since the Seahawks play Thursday night).

But damn you Griz football for making me miss the Truck race...

That was back when most of the members were extremely shitty, excessive posters. It's still pretty bad, but in general progress has been made. The F1 threads are also much less cluttered with the spam and redundancy from previous seasons.

20 people saying Alonso leads isn't quality posting?

The only thing remotely rewarding about Kyle in a Truck plate race is that he normally does everything in his power for some reason to help Chris Fontaine get close or at the front.

Although, it looks like Fontaine is in a 2009 Chevy this weekend, so he probably won't be competitive even if Kyle tries to help him.

What about all the ones who say Kimi pits?

That's the problem with a lot of race threads. This should be a discussing platform, not stating what's happening when you know everyone else in the thread is watching it.

I rather have a race thread go off topic with some lollers, than people posting what is happening. (which used to happen in NASCAR threads back in the TBK days)

Understandable, although I don't mind too much. For 95% of the races this year I've only bothered to tune in for the last part of the race. I usually use the TBK race threads to get a summary of what has happened up to that point. :p

I agree it can be useful for that, but when you're in the thread during the race it's anoying.
Ok you could stay out of them, but then what's the use of a forum to discuss things? iono

I barely read racing threads anymore because it's all "x leads", "x has a crash", "x has a flat tyre", ... It's irritating as HELL, so I just watch the race and stay off the forum instead. I only read/post before or after the racing, or if anything really special is happening. Of course comments on amazing overtakes or hilarious pit failures are not included in what is irritating, but there's clearly a line between completely useless posting and posting stuff that actually adds something to talk about.

I'd rather take a 100 page spamfest full of random shit than like a 10 page one with a post for each caution. lol

Somebody has to die for a thread to reach 100 pages anymore. And even then it's mostly anxiety spam and reactionary arguments.

You don't realise how big a crash really is until you read how many "WTF???" and "OMFG!!!" posts on here afterwards.

When you see a thread that's gained 4 pages over the course of a few minutes, you know some serious shit has happened.
