My question is, why would most just come with one car?

NASCAR told them over the radio that they wanted pack racing during this session no matter what.

I don't think the organization should be telling the drivers how to practice.

My opinion.

Most of drivers were talking about wanting to draft anyway, so I doubt that really came into play. Anyway, I liked how the cars looked in the draft, they were pretty unstable and it looked like you had to have someone behind you to really make a big run. The tandems look to be totally ineffective, and they have to be a lot more careful with how they bump each other. Definitely reminds me of pre-COT racing at Daytona.

The 99 team is well aware of their driver.

Couple reasons, from what I've been hearing. First, there's simply not enough parts available yet to start churning out new cars. Second (and this I picked up from that Alan Gustafson interview a moment ago) they only had one car fully prepared because they didn't want to put the final touches on anything until they knew a) what did and didn't work as far as performance is concerned and b) what the final rules and regulations would be. So there's basically no sense in going into full scale production until the teams and manufacturers know what NASCAR's final say is.

Ah ok. Makes sense then.

Most of the teams involved in the wreck are loading up to head home. Michael Waltrip Racing is also leaving even though none of their cars were involved in the wreck.

You know, NASCAR probably wouldn't have forced them to do big pack drafts if SPEED wasn't down there begging NASCAR to do it for the sake of something to talk about besides "boring" single car runs.

So even though the teams were going to test drafting anyway, we're now blaming Speed for causing this somehow? They were going to have to start drafting the new car at some point and they were going to wreck at some point, no blame game needed IMO.

If you're going to wreck a car, better to do it now rather than in 150 practice on Wednesday or 500 Happy Hour Saturday morning.

I don't think Speed had any influence over NASCAR's request for the teams to draft this afternoon. I'm sure that NASCAR wanted the teams to get in a big pack to see how the new cars would run in a big pack since it hasn't been done before with the new car.

I wonder if we'll eventually get around to blaming the people behind the wheel for crashing the vehicles they were driving?

Nah, it's the fault of NASCAR, SPEED, Tony George and the ambient atmospheric pressure.
